I can see your point but my perspective of that is that the DXY isn't the dollar. It is an index in the same way that SP500 is an index. It's simply saying how much of this basket of other currencies is the dollar worth. The value of the dollar vs gold is what the XAUUSD is saying regardless of what the DXY is.

If you look at the DXY in September compared to XAUUSD, the DXY was range bound, but XAUUSD was making all time highs. In October, it was the opposite. The DXY soared and didn't have a bearish daily candle for 2 weeks, but XAUUSD was sideways. The DXY and XAUUSD and not anywhere as closely correlated as people think.
