I understand that many of you who have subscribed or are visiting this thread might be expecting some kind of big secret, groundbreaking algorithms with incredible performance, or perhaps even trading courses. But that's not what you’ll find here, and some of you might end up disappointed.

When I first started trading, specifically in Forex, nearly 10 years ago, I too fell prey to bad advice—like many others. I lost some money, though luckily not too much. What surprised me, however, was that I wasn’t discouraged or frustrated. Instead, I found myself growing more and more curious.

Trading is an incredibly personal journey. What attracts most people is the idea of trading from a beach or a mountain cabin, steadily growing wealth day by day. But once you get past that initial dream, the paths successful traders take start to diverge. If you're not a beginner, you've probably already accepted the harsh reality: the odds are against you. You've chosen to work in one of the most competitive and challenging environments out there, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise.

That said, I believe that no matter the result, engaging with trading—if approached in the right way—always adds value to your life. Whether it's a lesson learned or a skill acquired, it’s something you carry with you. I don’t know if it’s just luck, but I’ve never personally encountered rude or ill-mannered traders, and I’m convinced there’s a deeper connection there.

Before we dive into the core topics, which I’ll likely start addressing in my next post, I’d like to offer a few pieces of advice:

1. Stay focused: If you're here, it’s to learn. Seek out information that helps you grow and improves your trading skills—this should be your primary focus. Remember, your goal is to become a trader, not just a data repository or a product tester.
2. Give me time, and give yourselves time: We live in an age of instant gratification, where everything is available at our fingertips, and we expect immediate responses. But that’s not how I’ll be running this thread. I’ll post when I feel it’s appropriate, allowing time for meaningful discussions to unfold.
3. Posts won’t follow a particular order: The content I share won’t be structured in a step-by-step sequence, so I recommend you stay engaged, review past posts, and draw connections between the ideas I share over time.

As I mentioned earlier, there’s no particular order in which I’ll be sharing my posts. Since I’m currently working on some mean-reverting futures, I’ll start by introducing this simple system that revolves around the classic concept of support and resistance. There are no indicators involved, and certainly no complex algorithms with fancy names. Instead, I just draw a few lines where I believe there’s a concentration of orders capable of creating an imbalance, and then I observe how the price reacts at these levels. The chart remains almost entirely bare.

Over time, you’ll see that I don’t strictly differentiate between forex and futures. In this highly subjective field, it’s natural—and essential—to choose the market that best fits your personal style. However, from my own experience, I’ve learned that a skilled trader can successfully navigate different financial instruments, provided they invest the time in careful study and preparation.

The two charts I’ve attached illustrate the equity curves of the exact same system, using the same number of contracts. The first chart, with less variability, offers a lower overall return but appears more stable and "reassuring." Its consistency is driven by a straightforward stop-loss and take-profit mechanism.

The second chart, however, follows a completely different philosophy, embodying the well-known principle: "cut your losses and let your profits run." While this approach has its merits, in most cases, it’s not always the most suitable strategy.

There are three main reasons why I particularly appreciate what I see here:
1. The absence of variables, such as indicators, minimizes the risk of overfitting.
2. It’s fast and efficient, as levels are manually drawn as soon as they become visible.
3. The fact that two completely different money management systems can both hold up and perform, albeit in different ways, suggests the presence of a consistent edge that can be exploited by the trader.

In closing, it’s important to emphasize that an edge alone doesn’t generate profits. It’s not the strategy, the indicator, or the algorithm that makes the difference—it’s the trader who knows how to use them effectively. This distinction is crucial. In the end, the only way to thrive in this zero-sum game is by having a clear understanding of your actions.

In trading, this dynamic is pushed to the extreme: uncertainty isn’t just a possibility—it’s a constant. There are no guaranteed salaries or set routines. Every day is different from the last, and every trade comes with a certain level of risk. Yet, it is precisely this uncertainty that makes trading such an engaging and potentially rewarding endeavor. Rather than avoiding unpredictability, traders learn to embrace it, analyze market movements, and develop a flexible, resilient mindset. For those who choose this path, true stability doesn’t come from external certainties but from the ability to navigate uncertainty and transform it into a catalyst for personal and professional growth.

Skipping essential growth steps—such as studying, testing, and continuous adaptation—leads inevitably to financial losses, whether partial or total. Anyone who thinks they can replace these fundamentals with random algorithms or by copying someone else's strategy is destined to fail; it’s only a matter of time. No matter how much one might want to believe otherwise, driven by impatience or greed, the statistics on success rates in this field are well known and cannot be ignored.

In case you want to trade with take profit of at least five times the stop loss or more read the few lines below in quotes, it is simply a reply I left in another thread:

"If you want to have a return at least 5x the risk it is advisable to trade in momentum condition. With major movements the take profit can be achieved, but the win rate will be low. The other solution at the money management level is to set only the stop loss and “let the profits run,” however, it requires a larger initial capital and particular coolness. Putting too much emphasis on researching an indicator or its settings is not recommended."

You won't find many more answers like this on the forum. In this business you can be a scammer, remain a lifelong dreamer or understand what trading really is, but the effort must be yours.
