just another observation, looks to me like a head and shoulders break has started this reversal, but i tuned out and missed it, bugger!!!

brilliant day niks, what a showcase of skill and focus. well done.

Not that you can ever know in advance, but imagine if you'd held all those long trades from the start, and just added all the other ones into the mix... haha Harry Hindsight strikes again. But given the FOMC interest rate decision, it was always going to be a big day out for USD pairs.

anyway again congrats on a virtuoso performance!

i suspect today will be a lot quieter... anyway i'm here in case anything interesting happens, and then the Mantis will strike.

GJ Countertrend trades - these charts show how you can be wrong about initial price direction but still make profits. While I didn't get the initial direction correct, by dollar cost averaging down lower I still made a good profit.

For me, the biggest problem I've had is this - I know that moving averages do not influence or determine price movement - price movement is simply the imbalance created by buy & sell limit & market orders being triggered into the live market.

So, why do these moving averages just seem to 'be in the right place' at the right time? How do I trust these moving averages to indicate price will act in a certain way? Maybe because price operates according to patterns, rhythms and phases that seem to repeat, creating recognizable tradeable setups... and I've been deep down in multiple rabbit holes learning about DOMs, orderflows, institutional commitment, ICT, SMCs, etc etc etc... and after all that, I decided I just wanted to turn up and trade with a reliable system. These EMAs (9 20 50 200) provide a recognizable structure, 'guard rails', that I can work with alongside my knowledge of candlestick patterns.

But it was the 'trust' of these EMAs and their hints that for a long time I struggled with, in my typical 'overthinking it' mode...

For what it's worth, I am finding that if I just trust that if I follow these EMAs, more than 50% of the time I make healthy profits, whereas if i distrust them and try to 'outsmart' the market, I lose out.

thanks again for your kind words and support, learning to hold in these strong trends is the final step for me, and the toughest, at least i am now starting to get a feel for when they develop, a lot better than i was even a few months ago...

cost averaging has numerous benefits, but it must be tightly coupled with price action to be effective, anyone entering orders blindly or according to some fixed rules will always face losses...

good to see you still managed a profit out of a bad trade, it pays to remain objective and not let emotions take over!

today is triple witching day, so who knows, it could get wild, better to trade with extreme caution!

you will learn to trust the ema's once you trust the ema's! losing faith in them in search of "better" options and then moving back to them to only lose faith in them again will cause distrust in them... i have been down that path and it is disconcerting every time, sticking with the ema's feels most natural and produces best results when traded with patience and discipline!
