Dont forget, before the Fed or a big news (CPI, NFP, etc) price usually doesn't reverse and stick to the trend.

Price action techniques on daily chart suggest to look for long around 2571 to 2600+
if not 2566 is next target.

Hi,
Central banks do buy tons of gold.
Under the new banking regulation for COMMERCIAL BANKS, it allows them to treat gold investment(Assest) as Cash(No tax on them) when they want the gold bullion to be used as their reserve.
Usually, Commercial banks hold notes and t-bills (short term debt instrument-as reserve), but now it also allows gold. Which means MORE Demand for gold(bullish).

Basel III have been introduced for almost a decade, but during commercial banks failure in the last 2 years, financial policy makers in the US banking sectors, have been searching for something these banks can hold onto, and reduce the chance for insolvency.

Thus, they want to put the new basel regulations into effect (giving commercial banks with over $100bn assets the time (upto to 2028) to decide whether they want to go ahead or not, with the new liquidity regulation)

A central bank may cut interest rate, but still adopt a tightening financial condition or vice versa. (we have seen its effect, on BOJ rate hike with easing financial condition).

Lot of rumors walking around the streets so be careful. Perhaps some big boys are creating those rumors and put the markets in hype for "buy the rumor, sell the truth" scenario. The first cut after years of high interest rates, if a sudden 50bps came out, it could be a dump and panic selling since it say that FED policies are falling behind. Though this could lead to more easing in the future.
Just a thought, even after CPI, markets think US economy still in schedule, then came the ECB and a series of rumors after that. Something is cooking and it not going to play nice to us.

Well the thing is opinions are basically divided, on one side you have analysts saying the market has overreacted to the possibility of 50bps and needs a hefty correction, on the other side you have something like what you mentioned with some asking for 75bps.
I think in the end we can all agree that the Fed tends to be cautious, it's easier to cut 25bps and then look if more is needed on the next cut then cutting 50bps and realizing it was too much.

So it would be safer for us to take cautious too. The first move could either be spike up or dump down due to what rates to be. Or it could be a minor move and make a lot of traders to lose patience and money. More strange thing is nobody talking about dot-plot which makes everything so predictable. My thoughts is to wait for a selling off then look for next Asia to buy the dip
