The Pudding...

For illustration purposes, I have reset an old real trading account of mine and set the start date to August 1, 2024.
It is publicly accessible through Trade Explorer.

Start date: August 1, 2024
Starting Equity = Starting Balance = $6,346.90
Starting UPL = $0.00

The strategy can be used without any chart or other so-called indicators: Our trades are the only indicator we will ever need.

Hedging, full or partial, is an important part of this strategy

I choose to call it "Soldiers Of Fortune" because the strategy views each trade as a Soldier attached to a specific Combat Unit with a very specific role to play.

More details will follow...

For accounting purposes, only the data available in the detailed monthly statement available on MT4 matters.
Anything shorter than that will be considered "entertainment".

Let us look at this trading account as the "production tool" for a $20,000.00 side-business set to pay a 10% monthly return to its sole owner/employee: Moi.
The bar is placed pretty high...

For that we will need to apply some very strict accounting rules.

1. Start Date: August 1, 2024

2. Total Investment = $20,000.00

3. Trading account Starting Balance/Equity= $6,346.90

4. Business Account Starting Balance = $20,000.00 -$6,346.90 = $13,653.10
(Safe money used to cover for expenses including the Monthly Return for a few months.)

5. Monthly Return on Investment = 10%TI = $2,000.00

The "Official" statement that the government considers is Quarterly (3 months).
So we will use it as a reference.
Because Start Date is August 1st, we will use the Monthly Statement for August and September and Q4 statement thereafter...

We will declare this business a failure the day we run out of resources.
Rules of Engagement

Rule One
No Soldier can enter the Battlefield before being fully financed.
We do not use leverage and only trade what we can afford.
A Soldier has two (02) costs:
The first one is what an accountant will call Cost Of Goods which is the drawdown a Soldier can create, a capped value in our strategy.
The second cost is the cost to hold the position itself.

Very important note:
One has to be very careful with this last part because there is no standard policy common to all brokers. Some do not withhold margin for fully hedged positions but most of the brokers I know do withhold an important amount for each side of the hedge.
We always focus on what we can control.
What we do is minimize the impact of an unpredictable event if harmful, and maximize it if beneficial...
The gains should be given a chance to grow exponentially while making "the losses" predictable and linear.

And that's the essence of "adding to a winner."
A very counterintuitive concept, indeed.

Rule Two
No Rebalancing or Restructuring before at least three (03) Units are Active.

A Unit is deemed Active when at least one of its Soldiers is in play/battle following a very straightforward Entry Process.
Every Unit can have up to 10 Soldiers divided into 03 Groups.

Soldier 01 is always from Group 1, the Participation Group.

He is that frontline Foot Soldier whose mission is the gathering of information for his superiors / Very high rate of death.
No satellites here, we are talking Napoleon style.

Soldiers live and die within the confinement of their respective Units.
Vive La Grande Armée !
Let us look at the trading range Google-Earth style...

My favorite Pair to trade and scalp is the GBP/USD so I will use it to illustrate my idea of a range and its implications.

Please keep in mind that all seven (07) Majors are traded exactly the same way in the companion account.

The first view of the trading range/battleground will be what we might call a global view.
It spans the whole globe and both extremities, North and South, can be clearly seen.

For the Pair, it is the 10,000-pip area from 1.0000 to 2.0000.
Note that the price has reached 2.14 back in the early 2000's and nothing is to be considered impossible, so our range can be shifted or extended as needed.
North America must have seen a lot of British tourists back then...

The second view is Regional.
We zoom-in close enough to have a "Continental" perspective with a few countries showing.

The third and last view is a "close up" view that shows only a few kilometers/miles.

For chart lovers:

View One is the Yearly/Monthly candle.
View Two is the Weekly/Daily candle.
View Three is the 1-hour candle and lower (for precision entry and scalping).

All Along The Watchtower...

Above is a snapshot of my screen as it looked a few minutes ago.

Notice the high negative UPL and the high number of trades/Soldiers.

The first few weeks of the endeavor are used to Stress Test the trading system.

I choose to call it "Extreme Forward Testing" which translates into "Putting your money where your mouth is."

Also notice the Comment column. That is where I keep track of every single Soldier, active or pending.

I do not need any other indicator.
In fact, I do not even need to know which instrument is being traded.

you gamble with your EA

I am also a gambler, because I only rely on luck from speculation

I gamble by following the indicators I use on XAUUSD only , right or wrong I follow them

If it's good, then I can add a few percent

and that's just gambling by following indicators, right/wrong.... profit or loss I follow the indicators

and maybe your thread will not be as smooth as you hope,

there are always those who agree and disagree with you

Fascinating! You got my attention. Please continue your explanation!
I also hope that Sofact continues with his explanations. I'm particularly interested in how his soldiers are divided into groups on the battlefield and how the entry (I noticed you are using stop orders) and hedging process works.

You have a lot of orders but also a lot of free margin.
How is that possible?

In post #3 you write that you are not using leverage. In total you are about 100 x 0.05 lots deep (roughly guessing by the length of the scrollbar in your screenshot). That would represent 500k USD which you do not have in your account. Therefore, I can only guess that you are using a hedging account and are hedged against your own positions (both long and short on the same symbol), and use a broker that does not count hedged positions in the margin calculation.

Yes, I think we are saying the same thing. You appear to have both Buys and Sells open on the same symbol. Your broker does not count these fully hedged positions to calculate the margin used. These are your "foot soldiers" as you call them, soldier #1 of each group, to measure what the market is doing.
It is undeniable that, when done right, trading is painfully slow...
That is why it is highly recommended for trend followers to only spend a few hours a week (or less) in front of their trading platforms...
One can win many battles, some more important than others, and boost a very good record for a while then lose it all in a single defining one...
Never forget "Waterloo"...
