And a steadily declining total volume indicates unstable trading conditions, as most movements are caused by trade closes. So there is no demand for new positions to fuel a new trend.

With so much news, there's no point in going into detailed trend analysis, so we'll just focus on what's relevant today.

The BOJ made an unexpected move by raising interest rates on the JPY, which immediately strengthened the JPY.
The next important event is the release of the CPI for the European Union, as these figures influence the future monetary policy of the ECB.
Finally, we'll have an important event from the FED, which will announce the interest rate for the USD, with traders paying particular attention to the press conference that will follow.
It will be a very difficult day to trade and we recommend caution and patience.

Yesterday's FED meeting brought little new information, so the market reaction was restrained.

What stands out is the continued strength of the CHF, which is most likely related to the possible escalation of the Middle East conflict. In times of uncertainty, investors often flee to the economically stable CHF, and this is also the case this time.

What is surprising is the massive fall in the GBP ahead of the BoE interest rate decision in a few hours' time. Increased caution is called for today.

What an intense week. Economic data had less of an impact on the market than the threat of escalation in the Middle East. We hope, for the sake of the people on the ground, that things will calm down soon.

Yesterday's rate cut by the BOE was expected, but still resulted in massive losses for the GBP.

We expect things to be calmer today and after the nice gains of the past few days, we'll enjoy the flow and hold back on new positions.

Last Friday didn't go as smoothly as we expected. The wild ride began after the worse-than-expected US employment data, and there is still a lot of movement in the market today.

The AUD reached 330% ADR before the start of the London session, with the EURAUD leading the way at 405% ADR. Even the CHF is already at 270% ADR, which is completely abnormal.

We can only speculate as to the reasons for this, but these are distortions well outside the normal range, and we generally advise caution until the situation has calmed down.

The dust is beginning to settle, and yesterday's Nikkei reaction was a delayed market reaction to Friday afternoon's US data. As Asian markets were already closed by that time, the news was only processed in Asia on Monday.

However, in our view, this was an overdue correction to the previous record highs, which were achieved despite inflation and buyer reluctance.

On the news side, the RBA news has already been digested, so there are no other major events to consider today.

The spectre of economic worries seems to have receded, and the possibility of an escalation in the Middle East conflict also seems to have been absorbed by the market. This can be seen mainly in the selling of the safe-haven CHF and JPY. Retail trading volumes are also back up slightly.

The AUD and NZD, which are showing a strong BUY trend, are particularly in demand. If this were to be reflected in the volume of these two currencies, we would have perfect trend conditions.
