Hi ronm7d, quit or not from forex is depend on you. First i'm asking why you choose forex for the first time you investment? and after you loss your money why you blame to forex?

Why would a profitable forex trader sit down and give his/her advice? Its taken years to become successful and why would I/they want to pass on my/their knowledge to someone who is looking for a shortcut?

Two Reasons

1: Because your angry at the Brokers who you see ripping off new traders by offering them beautiful looking indicators that just empty's out their accounts.

2: You also know that how hard you try to show a new trader a profitable way of winning in forex trading, they just don't understand your logic or are not desciplined enough to perform that task anyway.

You tried, your nice, nothing lost.

EA is just a tool. It is unrealistic if you want to find the Holy Grail. You need to summarize your own trading theory and then find an EA tool that suits your trading theory. I believe you will achieve results, as every great trader does. It started with losses.

Questions investors / traders may want to ask - Requires Honest Answers

  1. How much money did I make - total - investing / trading last your & year before, etc, etc. ?
  2. Am I investing / trading or BS myself ?
  3. Am I addicted to a non profitable 'hobby' ?

Neil - poster of the 'top' trading thread (on another forum) has donated nothing to his own sponsored charity.

I offered to increase the pot by £2,000 if he could cough up with me.
He declined.
Shorty after postings crawled to a stop.
The hottest thread kinda slinked out of town.
Perhaps, merely coincidental - it had run its natural course.
Maybe not.

The takeaway: As long as there's no threat of showdowns any gunslinger can be the fastest gun in town.

to me, finding out how many different ways market may move next is the key knowledge for being successfull (profitable) in trading.

mainly there seems to be two patterns (waves/ formations of candles);
expanding (or impulsive) and contracting (or corrective)

but within those 2 main patterns there are more sub-patterns
this is why no single indicator can work for all kinds of market movements.

without understanding, practicing and selecting those patterns committing a big real account would be a foolish idea.

I guess we’re a few years too late but honestly, I wouldn’t want to advise anyone on whether to quit or not because I don't know their situation. What I gathered from this thread is that this person was most likely not managing their capital well. The primary rule of risk management is always know what you’re okay with losing and what you’re not okay with losing. Trading can be very exciting and amidst all of that excitement and dreams of making huge profits we tend to forget that the possibility of loss is still there… So, if you’re in a place where you’re not sure if you’d like to continue or not–I’d suggest don’t rush after money but knowledge. Trading is a marathon not a sprint!

If you pay real attention to those 2 states (expansion and contraction / trending and retracement / move and correction etc.) you will realize that they are relative. Each expansion is a contraction at the same time on another timeframe.
You have to keep track of the waves they are part of. As long as you do not understand wavelength, amplitude and deviation, expansion and contraction have no real meaning.

I agree with your statement. Trading psychology runs very deep, and has many faucets to delve into, but one thing that is paramount, success in this industry as a retail trader, requires utmost discipline. And it is a type of discipline that not only applies to trading but it evokes an overall habitual lifestyle. When your discipline in trading becomes serious, you begin to apply the same in your daily life. Which is why I always say, trading is not just a hobby or career, but a way of life.
