That was a reference to a guy that sells EW software who had to pay a hefty fine for pitching the software to forecast commodities prices with at least 85% accuracy, after an order had been entered to cease and desist

Dennis Gartman's Rules of Trading

Every year at this time, trading maven Dennis Gartman publishes his "Rules of Trading." This year they are more succinct than ever, and simple though they may be, they are also profound. Dennis has come by some of the rules the hard way, and it pays us to learn from his long and successful trading career.

DENNIS GARTMAN'S NOT-SO-SIMPLE RULES OF TRADING

1. Never, Ever, Ever, Under Any Circumstance, Add to a Losing Position... not ever, not never! Adding to losing positions is trading's carcinogen; it is trading's driving while intoxicated. It will lead to ruin. Count on it!

2. Trade Like a Wizened Mercenary Soldier: We must fight on the winning side, not on the side we may believe to be correct economically.

3. Mental Capital Trumps Real Capital: Capital comes in two types, mental and real, and the former is far more valuable than the latter. Holding losing positions costs measurable real capital, but it costs immeasurable mental capital.

4. This Is Not a Business of Buying Low and Selling High; it is, however, a business of buying high and selling higher. Strength tends to beget strength, and weakness, weakness.

5. In Bull Markets One Can Only Be Long or Neutral, and in bear markets, one can only be short or neutral. This may seem self-evident; few understand it however, and fewer still embrace it.

6. "Markets Can Remain Illogical Far Longer Than You or I Can Remain Solvent." These are Keynes' words, and illogic does often reign, despite what the academics would have us believe.

7. Buy Markets That Show the Greatest Strength; Sell Markets That Show the Greatest Weakness: Metaphorically, when bearish we need to throw rocks into the wettest paper sacks, for they break most easily. When bullish we need to sail the strongest winds, for they carry the farthest.

8. Think Like a Fundamentalist; Trade Like a Simple Technician: The fundamentals may drive a market and we need to understand them, but if the chart is not bullish, why be bullish? Be bullish when the technicals and fundamentals, as you understand them, run in tandem.

9. Trading Runs in Cycles, Some Good, Most Bad: Trade large and aggressively when trading well; trade small and ever smaller when trading poorly. In "good times," even errors turn to profits; in "bad times," the most well-researched trade will go awry. This is the nature of trading; accept it and move on.

10. Keep Your Technical Systems Simple: Complicated systems breed confusion; simplicity breeds elegance. The great traders we've known have the simplest methods of trading. There is a correlation here!

11. In Trading/Investing, An Understanding of Mass Psychology Is Often More Important Than an Understanding of Economics: Simply put, "When they are cryin', you should be buyin'! And when they are yellin', you should be sellin'!"

12. Bear Market Corrections Are More Violent and Far Swifter Than Bull Market Corrections: Why they are is still a mystery to us, but they are; we accept it as fact and we move on.

13. There Is Never Just One Cockroach: The lesson of bad news on most stocks is that more shall follow... usually hard upon and always with detrimental effect upon price, until such time as panic prevails and the weakest hands finally exit their positions.

14. Be Patient with Winning Trades; Be Enormously Impatient with Losing Trades: The older we get, the more small losses we take each year... and our profits grow accordingly.

15. Do More of That Which Is Working and Less of That Which Is Not: This works in life as well as trading. Do the things that have been proven of merit. Add to winning trades; cut back or eliminate losing ones. If there is a "secret" to trading (and of life), this is it.

16. All Rules Are Meant To Be Broken.... but only very, very infrequently. Genius comes in knowing how truly infrequently one can do so and still prosper.

Earlier prediction of the ultimate high of EUR/CAD <hr style="color: rgb(209, 209, 225);" size="1"> <!-- / icon and title --> <!-- message --> I said, " But the wave pattern still does not yet resemble a complete 1-2-3-4-5 Wave 5 pattern. EUR/CAD is therefore likely to rise a final time to about 1.4950 after falling in an A-B-C corrective wave to about 1.4800. If it does this, then this will be a good short trade opportunity."

Monarch said, "I expect Wave 5 to hit around 1.5020 before turning down, 1.5009 is where I will place my Entry Short Position (which is the middle of the two resistant levels shown above) then I expect it will makes its first Corrective Wave A at the 1.4776 level, where my Exit Target is placed, I then expect it to rise in it's Wave B pattern."

After studying the one day chart some more I can see why EUR/CAD is doing a correction off of the recent high price, and then can anticipate a further high being reached of anywhere between 1.4975 and 1.5100, with 1.5100 being a high probability reversal point. 1.5100 is the 50% retracement approximately of the downtrend since 12/27/2004

Looking at the 1 Day 10 Year "Candle and Line Charts" there seems to be a possible top for the "B" Wave upwards at the 1.3200 point.

Do you think the EUR/USD has hit it's High for Wave B at the 1.3216 mark?

where do you see this going? i didnt trade this, but what wuold be a logical place for a stop

My most recent analysis of AUD/USD confirms my previous analysis. AUD/USD is heading up to an ultimate high of .7780 to .7800

It was incorrect for us to have exited our long AUD/USD trade at .7736 to make only 46 pips of profit. We sacrificed at least 44 pips of profit, and halved the rate of return on our trade by doing so. We were obviously not of a normal state of mind when we entered our trades yesterday.

p.s. - as of November 24 at 4:30 ET AUD/USD has risen to an interim high of .7776, and has only formed a 1-2-3 wave pattern of an expected 1-2-3-4-5 impulse wave pattern. The most recent prediction for an ultimate high is .7794

Re-enter Trade Signal #244 Buy AUD/USD at .7686 <hr style="color: rgb(209, 209, 225);" size="1"> <!-- / icon and title --><!-- message --> Tuesday November 21 at 8:00 ET

I wasn't watching it at the time, but AUD/USD descended as predicted after our temporary exit signal at .7702 and fell 16 pips to .7686 at 3:20 ET this morning, comprising a 38.2% retracement exactly, and forming an obvious A-B-C pattern. It also met our exact high probability reversal number at this value. We should therefore have re-entered a long trade at .7702, and be holding for our target at about .7725 to .7800, and most likely .7800.

Thanks, Clam61. We are monitoring so many currency pairs that there is insufficient time to properly analyse some of them. As soon as I get on top of a few, another few slip through my fingers. We have two contradictory trades open on USD/CHF. Only one will work. Which one? Right now, I think the original trade is probably valid, but it may be a premature entry, so it might be good to cash out with a small profit of about 50 pips. Also, we must consider that the latest one could also be based on a wrong long term wave count. I will report back later when I get a chance to analyse it more.

Based on my Elliott Wave count, I think it is probable that AUD/USD will rise one more time to .7855 to .7870

This would be an ideal short opportunity, with an interim target at about .7710. Stop is .7891

The EUR/CAD stop is correct. The risk is equal to the distance from the entry price to the stop, plus the spread.
