PRICE ACTION RANK and TRADING SIMULATOR

I’ve been working on a system that can Rank Price Actions according to Volatility and also show additional useful information at the same time (currently trends on all Timeframes and last Breakout direction).

The system updates live every few seconds on PriceActionRank.com. I use it myself to get a quick idea of what's happening in the market.

The below screen shot shows a group of currencies but it ranks over 4000 Symbols if 'ALL' is selected in the 'Symbol Group' drop down combo.

EDIT : Please note the site says it is restarting at weekends as there are no prices being fed into my back office system. I'll try to fix this ASAP as it's not very helpful.

EDIT : TRADING SIMULATOR: As some of you know, I've been quietly and perhaps foolishly working on a TRADING SIMULATOR for a while now. It allows you to practice manual intra-day trading on 5 minute charts. The trading day starts at 9am and ends at 5pm GMT. It also features a 300x speed boost so a trading day can be completed in a few minutes. You can trade all the Symbols available in the Price Action Rank (over 4,000). The simulator uses historic live tick data and there is about 2 years worth of data available to practice with.

If you would like to try, please let me know, via pm or here.... Would love the feedback.

It's very much experimental and a work in progress.

But if it's useful or anyone has any ideas on how to improve, would be very grateful for the feedback.

Hi Roy

I should of provided some better instructions. The 'Symbol highlight colour' allows you to see the same symbol across multiple columns.

If you want to watch a particular symbol. Click on it and it will light up and the same symbol in the other columns will light up with the same colour.

Before I added this feature it was extremely difficult to keep track of Symbols.

So, the purpose is to see what's moving in the market at any given time? is that right?

Do you derive signals from it?

Hi tele57

I use this screen when Intraday trading to give me a quick overview to what price action has good volatility. My ideal trade starts off as an Intraday trade and turns into a longer term runner that I can scale into. As such my setup values tend to be with this in mind.

I'm working on other trade signal pages at the moment and also rewriting the current page to be a bit less clunky on the refresh and to be a bit more responsive.

Thanks. It's very useful as it is, but yes, it will be amazing when you add signals to it. I'm already using it now, so, thanks for that.

What is the direction based on? CHoCH/BOS or some indicator stuff?

Would be interested in a discussion on how to improve the direction indicator as it's currently quite basic but is useful as it covers all the time-frames.

Currently the direction is calculated by creating EMAs from 1 second candles and then looking back, with a step size, 3 times. If each step is going in the same direction then we mark it as a GREEN for UP or RED for DOWN.

The easiest way to visualise each flag is from the following:-
DIRECTION 8 IS THE LEFT MOST FLAG
Direction 8 update every 1h - 14 ema on 1w Needs 3 matching bars.
Direction 7 update every 1h - 14 ema on 1d Needs 3 matching bars.
Direction 6 update every 1m - 14 ema on 4h Needs 3 matching bars.
Direction 5 update every 1m - 14 ema on 1h Needs 3 matching bars.
Direction 4 update every 1s - 14 ema on 15m Needs 3 matching bars.
Direction 3 update every 1s - 14 ema on 5m Needs 3 matching bars.
Direction 2 update every 1s - 14 ema on 1m Needs 3 matching bars.
Direction 1 update every 1s - 14 ema on 5s Needs 3 matching bars.

Does the above make some kind of sense?

Hey Tele57

I'm updating the site at the moment to be multi-paged and to include various signals.

Would be very interested in suggestions from members as to what signals to provide.

My main purpose with the site is to filter Price Action worth trading and to then provide additional, 'At A Glance' information and also potential signals.

I'm not sure direction can be done this way, with indicators i mean, it has to be tested thoroughly.

What i do know is that pure PA can tell you better the true direction, but it's complex cause you can have and uptrend on one tf and a downtrend on another, so it's not that easy to measure where the ALGO is in its cycle, so to speak.

Agreed, it isn't designed to actually tell you the direction. More to offer a very quick idea as to what is happening on a particular Price Action, over all the Time Frames.

The other thing to bear in mind is that all the directions are created on the 1 second time frame. So for example, you could visualise direction 8 as being a 14 period EMA on a weekly chart but actually it isn't. The description just provides an idea of the scale of the direction indicator. Hope that makes sense.

What do you think would be a better indicator to show actual direction. I could try it out and see how it compares?

CHoCH/BOS tells you direction for a period of time, how long time, depends om the TF. BUT there are also fake CHoCH/BOS's so no perfect thing to tell direction

CHoCH/BOS has to be in the right supply/demand zone to work correctly

Thanks for the input George.

I'll take a look.... What I currently have is quite effective for me but not textbook.

Once I've updated the site I'll take a look at other direction indicators. Or maybe allowing a choice of layouts with different indicators.

Can you share the dashboard so maybe i could compare how reliable your board is to CHoCH/BOS?

Not easily as my models and indicators work in my own back-office trading environment.

One of my side projects is an MT4/MT5 indicator that will allow my external back-office to send graphical annotation to MT4/MT5 charts.
