I had already known that my schedule would not allow me to trade Monday and Tuesday of this coming week. It now looks like Wednesday and possibly Thursday I'll be out as well.

I will still review the charts in the afternoon or evening and post the set ups here but it will all be after the fact.

I would like to ask question about Long entry marked with black arrow.
As i guess the number (in this case 18.106,75) is entry level.
My question is : if this long green candle has its close at 18.112,50 why your entry is 6 points lower? Does it mean you enter before candle close?

What is the Heikin Ashi formula?

The Heikin Ashi formula is the method used to calculate each candlestick on the chart. Some of the formulas or calculations are more complicated than those used for a standard candlestick. Here’s a simplified version of how to calculate the open, close, high and low for Heikin Ashi candlesticks:

  1. Open = (open of previous bar + close of previous bar) divided by 2
  2. Close = (open + close + high + low of current bar) divided by 4
  3. High = the maximum value from the high, open, or close of the current period
  4. Low = the minimum value from the low, open, or close of the current period

    With Heiken Ashi, the open and the close aree calculations, not actual price levels at a specific and particular moment in time.

    With Heiken Ashi, the high and the low are not always the actual high or low of the time during which a particular candle formed.

    In this case, things are further complicated because these are not Heiken Ashi candles defined by TIME, e.g. a five-minute Heiken Ashi candle, but is a Heiken Ashi applied to a particular rnage chart known as Renko.

    You simply cannot look at a dead chart like this and figure out why a fill happened. You simply have to understand that ta the moment I hit the buy market button, the market was at or near the level I was filled at in the milliseconds after my order reached Globex.

    These candles are really and truly an indicator, and a complex one at that. These should be viewed and treated more like stochastics or MACD or Arron than as price bars.

If anyone is interested in a simple strategy, with easy to follow rules, that gives an excellent risk reward ratio, I highly recommend for you to communicate with Vidvad and check out his version of the HOLO strategy. His motive is only to be of service in helping fellow traders.

Hi Vid - Just working through the HiLo rules once again and have made this 1st draft of Oil on MT4. I am getting ready to set each method on my Ninja 8 so just needing a bit of feedback please. This is not necessarily my trading window so I am just seeing if my grasp of HiLo is accurate or am I missing something.

That looks correct. Your candles look a bit different than mine but that is likely because your tracking oil as a cfd and not trackiing the CME futures contract?

ES HOLO Long set up with entry long at 5275.75. Stop loss is 5272.25. I usually use +60 ticks as a take profit on HOLO trades, but since the market is in bear breakout mode and both yesterday's low and today's open are between my entry price and a +60 tick target, I am reducing my take profit to +48 ticks and placing my take profit at yesterday's low 5287.75

A reminder that my schedule this week is going to keep me away from trading during many of my key trade window hours. I am going to continue to attempt to trade HOLO ES and CL.

Will not be doing anything with NQ and the renko HA trades. I will update my charts at the end of the day as I always do with hindsight markings.

Ed777 and I both took this CL HOLO long this morning with a target at the highest open. +40 ticks and done with CL for the day.

The entry at 80.80 and target at 80.79 was an accidental short I took when trying to enter the long. I quickly scratched that trade, somehow managed +1 tick, and entered the HOLO long.

So much for "flawless execution" and this time my mistake didn't hurt me.

I have a conference call that starts today at 9:30 AM just as the NYSE opens, so I'll not be trading the NQ as I would usually do.

Still long ES on the HOLO long, same stop and profit target for now.

EDIT: I should note that the reason we took profits at the highest open rather than trying to get the full +50 ticks is that, as you can see now, CL is in a HOLO short.

Pre-open observations on the NQ: Nq is in bear breakout mode, below the 34 ema, and has been in a range for the last hour or so.

I'd not trade the open until there is a break with a candle or candles closing outside that range.

The strategy aligns with my interests. I'm keen to delve deeper into how it applies to the Forex or crypto markets and potentially develop an indicator for it in MT5. It intrigues me, especially since I follow a price action style.

I have no experience with crypto, and I haven't traded spot forex in many, many years. I don't use MT5 or MT4 for that matter, so I can't be much help to you with respect to the platform.

The method itself should work in any market that has enough volume and liquidity.
