I love this idea and I did make an indicator some years ago.

Indicator for identifying ranging condition | Forex Factory. Newest version is in post 30.

But I never really got it to work for me.

BB is indicating ranging conditions and that is utmost important for traders. Anybody that can make a good strategy for this?
MetaTrader 4 - so many advantages.

The bandwidth indicator looks at the difference in pips between the upper and lower BB and the lower the difference signifies a period of low volatility (also known as the BB squeeze). John Bollinger suggested that periods of low volatility is followed by a period of high volatility (breakout). There are a number of Bandwidth indicators on this forum and I've modfied one to provide an alert (on chart and push)...
Great job, this can be expanded to include different values for other currency pairs and other time frames.
