The tension is going to have the opposite effect long term. Japan bombed Peal Harbor over oil. Since the late 1960s these M.E. conflicts. Trillians $ have been spent and probably a million lives. Some smart kid has a idea. That sand heater in production will alleviate some need for oil. E cars and whatever else the future has. Oil should be used to make better plastic and other crap. Burning it will lesson. We can make plastic now with vegetable oil. The Saudis are investing in other areas. When the M.E. oil demand lessons. Oil will be cheaper. More so with other plastic options. Less oil demand leaves less money to fund terrorist. Less oil demand leaves less need to protect kings in the desert. Let them drink their oil and eat sand. We dont need to spend treasure and blood. The true cost of that 80$ barrel of oil is thousands per barrel.

Heat element powered by solar. The larger the vessel. The longer the heat will last. In the summer it can build heat for months. Storing the heat for winter.
Where I live heating water could be done year round.

I learned to drive on slick mud, and wet grass. It is similar to black ice. It helps you feel the tires slipping. It helps you learn to steer while slipping. It helps you learn a gentle appy of a break will stop/steer a car better than a hard locked tire. It helps to feel the tires slip before you dig a hole. It much easier to avoid a tow truck, in favor of a push. It becomes instinct after. I think everyone should learn the skill/instinct that lake gives those guys. It may look like games. It does teach a skill.

yeah i learned it like 1 week after i got my drivers license at 18, it saved me once actually when i was driving a 60 ton truck off invisible black ice at a turn, the trailer showed up at my left window, normal reaction would be to hit the breaks but i hit the gas pedal, thus correcting the trailer.
The best drivers are those who know the limits, like you say it become second nature.
In later years the driving lessons and rules became to pussified, so we got alot more accidents now compared to back in the days, when people were able to learn these skills in young days.

Older/used cars are great for this purpose, also to get some mechanic skills in fixing them after stuff break. Newer cars has to many functions, and no one want to risk damaging them.

Yep. I hit black ice doing about 80 (129 Km ph) on a interstate curve in the mountains. I didnt see it, but felt the ass slip. I let off the gas, and steered. A couple of cars behind me, didnt get a warning. Because I didnt hit the brakes. Those cars ended up spinning, against the guardrail. I dropped my speed after that. If I would of hit the brakes. I would of been spinning on the guardrail too. I dont like computer control, I like to feel alive.

Not a physicist or anything, but thermal conductivity can be important.
Also specific heat capacity very important, however the idea is pretty simple so maybe it become more expensive.
a few copper wires spread out like a web originating from the heating element maybe?

Yeah coiled copper has to be thought about. I want to hold as much heat as possible. At least i think I want to. 1000 degree fahrenheit. The problem being in a water system passing through copper tubing. 1000 degree will turn to steam. You dont want steam running in your bathtub. Plus the need for a pressure relief. You could run it through a exchange to heat water. That maybe something to consider. You could just have a brick structure (filled with sand) to make a wall or something to radiate heat. A old fashion boiler type with a radiator may be one for you. Where steam or hot water heats a oil filled radiator. I may need to cutback on 1000 degree. But What's the point of not storing as much heat as possible, if the cost is near nothing? If all looks to work well. In new construction the floors can be used to radiate. With some tubing running subfloor. Where I live I may be looking more to superheat a refrigerant to see if its cooling can cool a building.
Sub floor wise, if the house was already built. You may be able to place the element in the soil as for as possible under the slab. People with a basement could just have a free standing metal vessel. The heat would radiate out. Maybe add some fans to circulate. All you need is the solar panels wired to the vessel element. That would be straightforward and simple. Have a thermostat control the power into the vessel

I can think of dozens of possibilities. I buried my pool. But I could of heated it using this. I think I will build a pizza oven.. Free heat, i can cook anything in it. Plus in winter it keeps the patio cozy

I got a 80 gallon water heater I replaced. The old one may be a vessel I can use. The sand temperature can reach 1100 degrees. While I usually set the water temp at 110. The sand draw efficiency 62%. The water draw efficiency about 70%. The sand vessel with hold equivalent to about 9x more heat in volume (Compared to 110 degree water). Making the sand battery store 9x80= 720 gallons of 110 degree water.

yeah i mean if i had a pool or building it i proably would connect it via pipes running under the pool in touch with the water at the bottom. It could be connected to several batteries(since the large volume) and then those pipes could have simple valves near it, so one just needs to open the valve in order for heat to travel at the bottom of the pool to the other side.
could work with the same principle if you have a fireplace, then could connect a material of high thermal conductivity exposed to the top of the fire and lead that heat to the edge of battery to conserve energy losses, or if that heat is higher than core it could be led to core. This way you can diversify energy sources(for rainy days/cloudy/cold) and have a way to cheaply supercharge it if you plan to use much energy a day for any reason.
Anyway valves are a great idea if you using the heat directly instead of converting it electricity.

I could imagine other uses to, like for instance make a grid of electrical wire under the farmland and have it connected to materials of high electric resistance(heating elements/ohm) this way heat energy stored in battery is converted to electrical energy(via peltier) travels to the heat elements in ground and there electrical energy is converted back to heat warming up the farmland. This way to minimize heat loss due to travel.
I heard that crops grow better if they got access to heat, not only sun.

I have lots of sun, and hot summers. The sand and heat can be taken a step further if feasible to reduces space. The sand can be melted to a liquid (glass). As long as the insulation is designed to take it. This heat could be stored for many month in climates like yours. The melting allows more heat in a smaller vessel. They do make elements that take 4k degrees. Sand turns to glass about 3.1K.. On the 80 gallon vessel described earlier. It would melt the steel. That may be a little much. But if the whole point is using, dirt cheap materials. You can get the sand to 2K degrees Doubling the potential heat capacity of the sand battery. That equals to 1440 gallons of 110 degree water. About half the water, in a common size in ground pool. An olympic size pool is about 660,000 gallons. The battery about 1/45. In my area, this is probably enough to heat a home. For most of a normal winters.
Some places use heat pumps for cooling, and heating. It just reveses the system depending on what's needing. It there were 2 batteries, one heat storage, one cold storage. In summer it may be able to heat the battery By taking the heat out of the indoor air to H storage. In the winter take the cold out the home to a cold storage.
The heating personality of sand, works the same with cooling the sand. The insulation may change. But thermal dynamics should remain with sand.
Heating elements work on resistance. The friction of the current moving through a conductor makes heat. The element slows the current. Causing heat to emit.

Cooling wise, thermoelectric cooling may be possible to cool sand. This is the one I may need for my climate . If this can be tapped. The cost of cooling and heating is 50% in my country. That could be curved. Industrial wise this could make energy poor countries more independent. This could be a game changer fo many industries. The imagination could run wild. A rain deficient country could use this heat to desalinate water cheaply. No need for NG. Storing the heat can turn a turbine. For electric at night using the daytime solar. This is pretty damn big.
California has an ocean that could water the farmland.

Friday closed below 1041 and 1036. For me that favors shorts. But it still needs to break a day close below the day 200 and 0741. In the shorter week term. It closed on the bull side 0930. That favored longs. So the fight may be 0930/1041. Until one of these give up. I side most often with the larger number. In this case 1036/41 R. The 12h trend is still at 0894.. Closing a day below 0741 should open up a bear trend. Support is anywhere 0741/0941. Those 200 ma's are there. A day close below 0741, could make the day 200 area new R.
