Better to wait for the price to set in and after the spikes.
Then you have better chance to survive rather than to trade pre-NFP

The NFP number was missed by a huge margin (166k), and a previous number was revised to the upside by 116k. The other numbers were also good so rates cut might be off the table for now. We can only follow the charts.

Hey Bro.

So, what does this mean for interest rates?

The Fed has been hinting at slowing down its rate hikes, maybe even cutting them later this year.
But this data release throws a wrench in their plans.

Here's why I see the plan may takes a different turns : (newbie view)

Hawkish argument:
Some experts argue that a weaker-than-expected jobs report shouldn't deter the Fed from raising rates. Inflation is still high, and a strong labor market could fuel it further.
So, raising rates might still be necessary to cool things down.

Dovish argument:
Others point out that the downward revision to previous data suggests the job market might be slowing down already.
This could give the Fed more leeway to pause or even cut rates, especially if inflation shows signs of cooling down.

Ultimately, the Fed's decision will depend on how they interpret this mixed bag of data.
They'll consider other factors like inflation reports, consumer spending, and global economic conditions before making their next move.

The number get revised later.
The number of new jobs missed expectations by 166,000, coming in at 134,000.
The previous month's figure was revised upwards by 116,000, from 235,000 to 351,000.

Pat, I use data release to help me understand potential moves during the day, but I know that if the NFP# is missed by 100k+ caution is required with counter-trades. It doesn't mean we don't take them b/c after all we trade the setups on the charts.

Thats mean May cut out of picture.
June cut also start to fade.
Possibility we might only see 75bps cut starting in late Q2 24 (july or after) in line with Nov 2023 FED Eco Projection for 2024.
Pre - Valentines CPI will give us a clearer picture, i guess
