can someone explain to me. how is trailing stop really works!!-please see the example

it looks like there been a misunderstanding of trailing stop..

i just cant figure it out...

can some explain to me, how is trailing stops really works ???
i never seen my profit lock at 15 pt,20pt,25pt....
only seen the profit lock at 5 pt from the open position..
what is the meaning of ( trailing 15pt,25pt,35pt , custom ???

i know its a simple question, but i just want to know, how its work ?? not just the meaning of

i would be appreciate, if some one would like to explain , how the trailing work and use an example..

3.the amount of trailing stop you choose is the difference between your entry price and the amount of price your order is in the profit.
for example:
trailing stop=20
entry price =1.1100
current price=1.1125
which means your stoploss moves to the price =1.1105(5 pips of profit)
it will follow it up.

it works like this:

once price moves in your favor X pips, with X being your trailing stop it will moved the stop loss 1st to break-even then one pip at a time for each sequential move up.

Example:

[email protected]
S/[email protected]
Trail@20pips

price reaches: 1.2220
new S/[email protected]

price reaches: 1.2221
new S/[email protected]

price reaches: 1.2222
new S/[email protected]

and so on..

that's a nice strategy and i was following like that but with 10 pip
but it depends on you how much loss you can afford in bad situation

I just want to add one more thing. If you are using metatrader, you need to keep the program ON, it's not going to work if you turn off your computer. I dont know about any other platform. ALSO, it seems to activate ONLY if you are in positive area. BECAUSE of these two peculiarities of using trailing stop, I was confused too.
