Hi @emmanuel7788, thanks for the great B3 shared. I tried to run a couple back tests, and saw steady growth, yet always close position and lose all at the end, is there any parameter i am setting wrong here? Thank you!

I have done no end of backtests using MT4 data, tickstory data and have concluded that backtesting is a waste of time. I too get backtest results with a large loss at the end when tester closes all trades. The only real test is to forward test and evaluate each week as to whether a tweak is required. Here is my results of forward testing this month to date of Blessing at the top and another bot doing not so well. As of today all trades are closed.
Blessing version is V27 on the M5 chart. I will continue to observe the forward test and see what happens, I have not done any tweaks this month.

what are you back-testing?

when you run back-testing in MT4 Strategy Tester, it will most often end up the same you experience.
you cannot expect to trade just one currency pair and make profits in all market conditions.
As the trader, you can control Blessing3 EA with the FMC parameter according to the changing market conditions.
Blessing3 cannot do this on its own.

when you want to trade with Blessing3 EA, you need a Money Management based-System Strategy and multi-pairs trading strategy.
MT4 strategy tester is not able to back-test running simultaneously multi-currency pairs.

I will discuss this more in details in 2024 and how to make trading simple with Blessing3.

then develop your own MM models for your system strategy using Blessing3.

Here you go. i am using the compact version with dates set on weekly and results by magic number. There is another good one on the MQL5 site called TradeInfo by Icefx

Problem comes when we get a strong trend and Blessing is trading the other way waiting for reversal. The DD builds fast and I expect there is a fix using hedging or switching Blessing to directional trading only but I am yet unable to fix DD when it starts and the problem gets worse after that blowing the account.

Thank you @emmanuel7788, I am getting better backtests on GBPUSD H1 now, but, when I try to run XAUUSD M5 backtest, somehow it always come up with no result for some reason. Am I doing any setting wrong? besides initial deposit of $10000, all other fields are 0.0, 0.00s. Thank you!

And also for example on GBPUSD here, I see some of the trades even if its on H1 frame, its open for 4-6 days sometimes. Wouldnt the swap sort of eat up the profit then? Also, at these very last orders, how come the open orders doesn't close for a month? Is there any way we can fix these backtest end parts?

bless3's hedging mode isn't about locking losses but increasing profits. I believe what you refer to as hedging mode might be hedging positions, right? Actually, viewed from a different perspective, it's not that severe as long as your parameters are well set. With a risk of a $300 margin call for a profit of $300, it yields a higher success rate. Considering this $300 as one trade, a win results in a $300 gain, and a loss incurs a $300 loss. b3 has a pretty high success rate.
After gaining $300, withdrawing $300, and continuing trading with the remaining $300, you're essentially engaging in risk-free trading. As long as you maintain this approach, the overall outcome is profitable. Occasional margin calls aren't alarming. There's always a possibility of margin calls when adding positions against the trend. Our aim isn't to avoid it but rather to profit as much as possible before a margin call and withdraw profits. This is just my personal view, provided for reference.

I am referring to grid trading bots in general and I have tried a few different ones. Depending on your bots reference price its possible the bot opens sell trades right at the bottom of a trend and you are stuck with those trades building DD until the bot can build a +basket with enough profit to close all. I agree with Emms advice on giving Blessing a trading direction but deciding when that point happens is a tough call for us newbies with full time jobs.
I suspect that putting a manual hedge trade on to counteract the DD when it gets too big (how big is too big) is an option but that too can lead you into more DD if you get it wrong. Maybe a manual hedge and let Blessing manage the basket from there is the answer.
Given that, i think Blessing is probably the best free grid bot i have come across and has potential in the right hands so I will continue to monitor its progress on the demo account and then panic when DD gets around 50%.

Agree.

Blessing3 is still the best EA for managing baskets of trades. This has been time tested for more than 20 years since its first release.

BlessingPro and Evolution are much better with many additional features but they are not free. However, the company JTAtoday closed down years ago.

the setfile for XAU in post#1 should run and open trades when you have decided the FMC 0, or 1 or 2.

I do not worry about the swap fees when live trading. I trade multiple pairs and different swap fees , some are positive , some are negative,... just accept them because I hold positions over many days and for weeks when the market goes sideway narrow ranging. I can decide to close the basket manually and take some losses.

You will have that back-test 'end part' losses when there are too many open positions and the strategy tester will close all open positions. Keep the number of open positions small by using the close oldest setting and limit the number of open positions in your back-testing. Limit to maximum trades to below 5 and close the oldest.

This is different when trading live. You have the choice to close positions manually and also add positions manually to the open basket.

Why not? If you say market condition, how do you know in advance what market condition you’re in? You could be in a bear market and place your trade following your bear market tested conditions and boom, the moment you enter the „condition“ shifts to a bull market. All the talk about market condition is hindsight only?

Market is open now ... run Blessing3 in your Demo account and tell me the error log in your MT4 journal.

I tried to put the EA into VPS and let it run live, but somehow for three days now, EURUSD/GBPUSD/ and XAUUSD has not open any trade. How do I make it auto trade live? Thank you.
