You seem to be pretty good with that programmer, you might be interested in making this indicator; I have it for MT4 by the way, but no EA.

The standard way of using the signals is for multiple continuation entries, but I am having good success with using it in a reversed manner. Gives some of the best retracement's entries ever. I can show charts to explain more if any interest.
It takes a lot for me to IGNORE you, but you can try.

Maybe I will get the initial signal from the MA angle, and then add this criteria as the confirmed entry reasons..

Tested over the past 12 months with your added entry criteria.

Amazing how a simple change can make such a big difference in the entry.
This is the Mean Reversion style of the MA % gain.

When the MA % is aiming a certain % it will look for your extra conditions, which have made all the difference.

Sorry for slow reply, glad you took an interest, here is the type of setup that I usually look for, main trend on weekly and daily, retracements on 4-Hour.

There are 4 signals during the previous week, I used 1 x ADR(10) as the Stop Loss / Take Profit.

Some big strength moves on USD are upsetting the method this week, I have not placed any trades.

Another example, as long as you stayed the course, or only took small positions, they all pan out eventually.

Weekly and Daily below the 200 EMA, 4-Hour retracement, Magenta star on Close = Sell on next Open.

Further to this strategy I am testing a slightly different entry reason.

The original testing is when the Moving Average has gained a big amount of % real fast it will look to trend trade with this or mean reversion again it.

The next addition to this strategy is adding a pullback feature into the original entry.

 

  1. If there is a Big burst in the Moving Average - set up trend to True.
  2. If the up trend is set to True and the candle pattern occurs
  3. and if the bar pulls back from its highs to below the 10 moving average
  4. Open buy positions

And these are the results with removing the candle pattern formation. It takes a heap more entries, makes more money but the drawdown has increased 3x as well

Does anyone use specific candlestick patterns like the "Three White Soldiers" or "Three Black Crows"?

After doing some research these patterns can help find reversals in the markets so I have implemented them into this strategy to see if it helps improve the mean reversion side.


This is Mean Reversion tested on MT4 back to 2010, with added confirmation of the "Three White Soldiers" for a Bullish signal and the "Three Black Crows" as a Bearish signal.

Hi everyone,

Thoughts on the Israel war and how it move the markets? Will there be more Gold / USD buying?


I have this Moving Average strategy running on multiple Forex Daily symbols.
It's currently set up on a Demo in the Trend Following format, so when the MA is aiming a certain angle, the algo will look to follow the trend.

Not really, just setup your charts using the 4-Bar indicator and let me know what you see.

The biggest problem for me is the last 2 weeks in determining the TREND, especially with the WAR and USD turmoil.

So, if you can solve that, much appreciated.

Apart from that, you need to be very selective of when to take a trade; see my TE, I haven't taken any positions & that's demo!

I use Trade View X to create the algos, its really handy and can be plugged into MT4/MT5 as well.

Many times I will create them for MT4 and do massive optimizations.

This is very interesting. I am starting a strategy that is in family with your strategy. But also different.

I am trading Renko. This means that it is much easier to identify trending charts. I have identified 10 FX pairs which I will trade, because they have a recent history of steep trends.

My strategy goes on scalping. Take some few pips and get out. BUT - sometimes the MA is rising fast and I can then see, that here will be a possibility for a run for a day or two. Then I keep the pair until it fades out.

I will watch for soldiers and crows.

Unfortunal the PROP firm that I will use for this does not accept robots and I am normally not programming indicators. But I will see what I can do to make some helping tool. I am a MT4 user.

I have subscribed to this thread.
MetaTrader 4 - so many advantages.
