First of all I would like to say many thanks to all of you who have been involved in developing process so far.
I started to try out this great piece of artwork yesterday. Although I have a question about the system - What does the comments in upper left corner means (maxDrowDown; CurrentDivergence; Drending market down and up and a numbers behind those comments)?

Nerver thought I could lose so much money using mini lots. Ouch!!!

I would like to show some info from my test. I have modified the FB with:
1). Hedge
2). Increase position size by factor of 1.666.

Initially, I though with such approaches, I could protect my account.
But it went from about 800$ in IBFX MIN acount to about 30$ this morning in a few days. No meaning to show my statement, just like to warn that the suggestion of increase position size can not protect the account, it would blew out the account more quick. I think the important for the system is to pick up right ranging pairs.

Yes it was the real stuff. I think the hedge version would have to be tested for a long period before I would use it. It seems everytime I go live with a new idea or account, we see all time highs or lows or market conditions that never existed before. I will make it all back on the way back down though.

Don't feel alone Melissa. Just glad I had a 40 pipstep instead of the 20 I used to use for a while! Still I've lost 33% of a live account. Ouch.

Ok, after grabbing +740 pips last week, this week I got bashed.

BUT there is always a positive to learn
..... The positive I can gain of this.....

Since 10/20, running Firebird 63g-ts, live, 24/7, 0.1 lots

EUR/JPY 12 closed winners / 0 closed losses / 3 in float
USD/CAD 30 closed winners / 0 closed losses / 2 in float
USD/JPY 19 closed winners / 2 closed losses / 3 in float.
(all closed by Firebird)

I have shut down the other pairs until I gain back some of the losses from this week.

I am still a believer in Firebird

Good post and I agree with you. I know that I will probably never activate the GBPUSD in EA again. But I will use it to make all my money back and ride it back down. This is Forex.....bad with good and all that.

GBPUSD wa a culprit for sure, but over the last few days USDCHF, and EURUSD both went 150+ pips the wrong way for me. We need to find a way to keep FB out of the trends, and once in a trend, get OUT. Maybe place a trade in the directin of the trend, and then wait to see what direction it will continue in. If it keeps going against us, close the original trades and keep the trades in the direction of the trade. If it reverses, close the trade we just placed. Maybe not as simple as that, but i hope you get the ideas.

Same for me OUCH!!!!!!.

Back to the drawing board.

And manual trading..........till we work this out.....a trending market maybe only 30% of the time but boy it got some bite.

Has any of the programmers here looked at some of the EA's that performed well in this trend? Pip_boxer is one that comes to mind. I am not wanting to quit Firebird, just gets some fresh ideas.

I switched to PIP_boxer, nothing but profits so far. I like FB, and I will wait for a fix.

PipBoxer worekd so and so today
It closed 5 trades 2 of them in SL and 3 TP. At the moment 1 trade is still open and it is in TP zone. All togeather todays trades are all in negative side -15 pips.

I was just hoping some of the people who worked so hard on Firebird could look at other code and come up with something. I will say that I did not have the exact same problems with my demo Firebird using 30min charts. Not as many trades opened but it did not get beat up in this trend.

Morning.

Just a view of the next few days for us to think about over the weekend.

EUR pushed to a high of 1.2975 yesterday before closing at 1.2947 forming a spinning top candle at the end of the day. It was seen heading towards yesterday’s high in early trading this morning. This suggests that upside gains and possibly a break and close above 1.2981/1.3000 levels could be seen in the days ahead.

For all with shorts....Sorry....

Here is my result from Friday the floating loss is huge 551 pips. <o></o>

I am using Firebird v0.63G-TS on IBFX demo account. <o></o>

5 minute chart<o></o>

MA timeframe is 15<o></o>

TP 50<o></o>

SL 300<o></o>

TS 15<o></o>

I found this threat about a week ago and have spent some quality time with it so far. Since I am quite new in forex I do not know if my suggestions to improve the EA have any value at all. But since I do not want to be just a taker here it is.
I noticed this Friday during that big fall (USDSHF) around 08.30 that in left upper corner there was a remark - Trending Market DOWN. And for pair EURUSD around the same time it was remark - Trending Market UP.
So here is the question can we use those remarks? And the answer to I think we can since the remark was created by EA.
So can we but a little code to EA that when the signal is:
• Trending Market DOWN then the EA will initiate SELL trade
• Trending Market UP then the EA will initiate Buy trade.
Those trades would have two termination criteria:
1. Standard ST and TP (according to settings everybody use)
2. Trade is active until the signal about market trend is active
Those trades will stay open until one of the parameters (witch ever comes first) mentioned before is met.

So that was my idea how to reduce losses trending market.
