Can't trade on a holiday?

I am using an interbank fx demo and I am unable to execute trades. I suspect it is because in the US it is thanksgiving but aren't people still trading worldwide even though the US is on holidays? Does this happen in other countries?

I think it depends on the broker. Mine, forex.com is open today, but they have in the past closed for 8 hours or so during US time and then reopened.

I suggest you don't trade on these days.

out of curiousity...why shouldn't you trade on these days. Also, what if you already have open trades? I have a trade open before this holiday and I am unable to modify the stop loss or take profit.

it sucks that we are not able to trade with ibfx on days like today, fxdd is also in the usa and there i can place trades...

its not good for EA trades...

it certainly does suck. There are some trades that might open up and I will not be able to take advantage of this.

it's ibfx always have problem with connection....i know today still holiday...

the market took a hell of a dive on thanksgiving day and I was NOT able to take a trade, even modify a trade that I had placed before the holiday. I would def. like the option to be able to trade on holidays in case there is a huge move like the one we just experienced . If the only hazard to not trading these holidays is slow market movement, I really wouldn't worry about that too much. It is better that I am prepared and have no oppurtunity...than one comes along and I am not prepared.

Oh and by the way, because I was not able to trade/modify trades yesterday, I took a loss on a trade that reversed, but had an opportunity to take a profit but I couldn't as I was locked out. Glad that I am demoing and know learn the pitfalls. I won't be going with a broker who closes on holidays.

I also don't think it is wise to trade on holidays because of thin markets, but as what happened thursday and friday - it doesn't take much to move things and when they do - stand aside or get onboard.
