How do I time limit an EA?

One idea is to use a global variable. These get auto deleted 4 weeks after the last access, but I guess this should be good enough.

This code will automatically start count when the first tick comes in(in other words when the user first starts using the EA) and last for however long you want.

120 is the number of days this code would let the EA run. Just change it to change the amount of time the EA will run.

Add code later telling your EA what to do if VersionExpired is greater than 0(examplerint something or display some text on chart)

i dont think that is very good as you can simply delete the EA from the folder and copy the original one again

But it dosn't work.
Despite I change the date it will still let the EA runs in MetaTrader.

I am quite new to the stuff. Is there anything else I should do for having the above code working?

Oh, never mind; I just noticed one can delete them manually by simply pressing F3, lol. The same with aicccia's code; it will forget the start date once stopped. I don't think that was intended. You could write it to a file, or to the windows registry, but nothing's really secure.
