The housing data really damaged the dollar, I think to get a real correction we need some fundamental data to push this pair the other way now.. unless we get some profit taking ahead of the close... the time to go long was on the double bottom on the pound, which was a 50 % fib retracement of the previous upmove...

All EW gurus,

I'm trying to learn EW and would be a great help if anybody could post their current charts with wave counts on them. Any time frame would do, as I said, I'm a dummy now.

im about to start reading this thread from beginning to end, but quick question.

in the first post, fixme stated that he has his own method of trading...im guessing this involves elliot waves and some other stuff?

is fixme using anything else besides elliot wave to trade? if so, what?

also, fixme do you trade every wave?

Yes, yes, yes, I finally saw the bounce, although I had to buy inversion boots to be able to see it without straining my neck. My back feels better though. Great boots. I strongly recommend these to anyone daytrading FOREX

reading more about elliot waves. this is great stuff.

im curious what EW practitioners have to say about USDCHF.

as an amatuer wolfe wave guy, to me its at the bottom now

I am currently following the Aud/Usd pair. It has recently completed a 5 wave impulse move upward and appears to have completed an ABC correction. My only concern is the correction may not have lasted long enough or deep enough to fully correct the previous impulse. I am still trying to sort out if what has just recently transpired is in fact another impulse wave or a B wave for the yet incomplete correction. Would anyone like to comment?

Would someone let me know if submitting charts via this zip file format works OK? The restriction to the 600x600 pixel format was annoying me.

Although I am no expert on Elliotte wave.. Your chart looking at the big picture appears to me that you ABC is actually just an A my count on the AUD/USD if I am doing it correctly has the pair in an extended B and should drop to form the C wave..

Thats what I'm seeing.. If anyone with better knowledge can help.. Jump in..

If the trend reverses at this point, then this could turn into a running flat formation, and would retrace to the previous low around the .7620-.7610 area. Maybe lower.

If this B wave continues to extend, then the possibility of an expanded flat would be the pattern. It could then reverse in the .7800 area with a C wave downward as far as the .7550 area.

Probably won't resolve this until after the weekend.

Wow, that is indeed a close call. It could really be either abc and beginning of impulse or ab and waiting for c. Both comply with rules and guidelines. Will study over weekend and see if any of the Neely extensions would shed some light. This might be a time where it is better to wait until the picture is more clear, according to traditional elliot theory, which I have found less risky than agressively and loosely applying it. Good job both Shaimus and jjenkin777.

I just ordered Neely's book yesterday. I have heard a lot of good things about it. What did you think of it?

I think it is good b/c it resolves some of the ambiguities of the Elliot Wave Principle, but you have to have read "EW Principle" first, in my opinion. It's like a reference book that you go back to, since it has so much. So far, using it, i was able to short GBPUSD at 1.935 for the fall before this run up. I saw an example in the book that looked exactly like what was happening with the trendline channel, and when it broke the bottom 2, 4 trendline, It went for it for good pips. That is one aspects I really like about EW, that if it a rule is broken by the price action, and you against what was happening up to then, you can make money even when EW does not complete the pattern. So even if you don't believe in EW, you can still use it to make money. Those might be the safest bets, in addition to trading only impulse waves. The book would be good if you are serious about EW, b/c it is very tedious work. If you read it once, and put it away, it would not be so useful.

You don't have to go back too far to see an example of EW working even when it does not work. Take USDJPY today, when w2 went below w1, at
at about 117.13, if you have shorted there, you would have picked good pips.

I just bought

Elliot Wave Principle (Hardcover)
by Robert R. Prechter, A. J. Frost

is this a good book? Is it advanced or juts basics.
