I appreciate your contributions to this thread. It's unfortunate that the person who started it is no longer active.

And yes, I think it is best to use this strategy on more than one time frame.

The problem of strategy of person who started this discussion is that give too many entry and this increase the chance to have a long series of losses. Also she use fib level as targets and I think that is not support our ttrading psychology. Better use a time target plus a profit level at some s/r zone.

Switched to Daily time frame. Strategy are the same :an inside bar falowed by an outside bar. Holding time is one day or close 1/2 and move your risk to break even.

Good morning Viktor, I have seen this strategy for some time but I would like to hear from someone who has tried it without being the creator.
I noticed that you were using it and I would like to ask you some questions:
Is this strategy making a profit?
How long have you been using it?
Advantages and disadvantages?
Did you make any improvements?

Hi !

The idea by itself to trade only on some specific signal and to have a time target for that trade ( hold trade only a precise period of time ) can be an edge for your trading. I traded succesfull last year for example only longs and only if a bulish bar is falowed by another bulish bar who also test the low of previous bar.

I don t target 10pp per month ! I target only 2-3 profitable trades per month. Low frequency trading will improve considerable your trading psychology and also wiil give you an edge.

I will not answer about the profitability of this or some other strategy. Instede I encourouge you to do backtest. This is the key to trust some strategy and begin to trade succcesfuly. I wiil give you an example of backtest.

Reduced the number of pair only to jpy pairs. Let s reload with this limitation the test on h4 time frame. Also the same pattern for d1 and w timeframe. This filter must improve dd caused by high corelation between markets.

Yes, as you can see (kinda dark) my 30EMA is under the price, so only buying. Stoploss under the low of the engulfing candle and targeting 1:1 (200 of the FIB)

New improvments on this strategy:

1. Use only H8, D3 ( from ctrader platform) and higher (mt4 and tradingview)
2. wait for an inside bar formation ( check the chart 5-10 min before de close)
3. For inraday (H8) use only major USD pairs and major indices ( US, Dax, JP)
4. Trade only long version of the strategy
5. after inside bar check if the next candle is an outside bar
a) outside bar body must be greater than inside bar body
b) outside bar is also an outside bar for the mother of the inside bar
6. If a) & b) trace Fib from High of the outside bar to the low
7. Remove all Fib Level except 0 %, 50%, 100% and 80% (161)
8. Place a Buy Limit order at the 50% Level
9. Put your stop loss at the zero Level and your TP at the 161 Level
10 . Set the life time of the order equal with length of the bar ( if H8 MT4 will delete your pending after 8 hours)

I will be happy to see some aoutmatic backtest result to confirm that strategy is consistent

The major diference between the version of the strategy from the begining of the thread and tis version will be that we will sit confortable and fish for big trades and not go in water up to the neck and try to catch with hands-only. You can spot this pattern on stocks also for big time frame like 3M, 6M and 12M from tradingview. But for biger TF ( weekly and above) it is better to bet that the price will hit 161 first and will not hit 50% Level. Or a more consrvative aproach is assimetric rr with entry at the close and 161 as a target.

please can someone explain me why HZS engulfing v3 is used twice? was it for the purpose of showing that it can be used with different id or it is a part of the strategy?
