Thank you Pat. It feels strange to trade against that big drop from yesterday, but USDX convinced to to at least go for my 20 pips. I don't want to do any hero trades today!!

{quote} USDX does not seem to want to up at the moment. I see it dropping even on M30 and H1 but on NFP day (nearly) I think Mr Market can be very tricky. I have my target so I won't enter again unless there is something very good to trade. Have to protect my capital

mmm.. will see.. you are correct about the tricky.
But it tricky only in LTF most of the time.

I have a UJ Sell going at the moment. I will exit this if the price goes near my entry, especially as the chart for UJ is very messy. My TP is for another 20 pips, but I'll take anything that Mr Market wants me to have

Edit: A new low for the day will have to happen if my TP is going to get hit, so there's more than one reason why this might fail. SL is in to protect the trade now.

UJ could not make a new low for the day and I didn't like the look of the previous candle so I exit manually for +8. So +28 for the session is ok with me.

Now I will play my guitar and then have a shower and sleep zzzzzzzzz

If anyone visiting my journal is going to trade NFP, good luck, I hope you make some good pips

Hi Indiara.

This is my thought process in taking UJ trades prior to NFP.
Putting in chart is easier way to explain things.
I hope this is educational enough for you, in taking preparation step into the trades.

RECAP on NFP

NFP on Deck Today.

US dollar surging higher on stronger NFP.
Well above the key level of 101.5.
There is significant short positioning against the greenback.
We may see some exiting of those positions as it becomes more likely that rates rise with this recent show of job market resilience.

Some very positive numbers out for the US economy regarding employment rates, analysts expected worse but we actually got better figures.

The dollar index (DXY) climbs 0.8% as most USD advances against most majors in the wake of a robust NFP report
- DXY gets some respite from the 100.00 level.

That is exactly not what the fed wants to be seeing right now.
The unemployment rate is down, and NFP is up exponentially.
NFP: 517k
Est. 188k

Rates will be higher for longer as the US economy is extremely healthy; what it does mean is more pressure on the GBP and EUR

Most importantly............If Powell needed a justification for more rate hikes, well, he just got it
I come from the future.

But the last few days in the news his speech was valued as dovish, the impression from his tone was: Clearly they still have to use rate as weapon to continue to fight the inflation, but according to him the rate increase would not be as sharp as beginning. Also ppl suffering from gas price, food price, unable to pay rent the middle class starting to losing home, issue with lay-off as company have found themselves in situation of not enough demand and do lay-off everywhere, etc. while the numbers show the economy is extremely healthy ... that was not so clear or easy to do a projection there.

Also Looking at the chart even the weekly at the Lo, D1 chart shown rejection from where price just touched and bounced from demand zone ... What could be the outcome if the numbers showing different way? there could be a new positive pin bar pierced the demand border and is rejected from the demand 50% percent line.
Why is such scenery not possible, Pat? it is not a rare situation that we sometimes seeing 3 pin bars in a row.

Thanks ntk....

Very interesting question.
Honestly, I need to digest the whole scenario and getting to understand your deep question/view on this.
Need time to answer you.......

Meanwhile......
Back in the mid 1990s, I was advised that the FOMC gets access to the monthly Jobs reports 2 days ahead of its release on Friday.
If true, Powell already knew about today's numbers.
I tried to corroborate this with few of my sources, but no avail as yet to confirm.
I come from the future.

Thank you so much for explaining how you see things before NPF Pat. It is very interesting

With that UJ trade I took the entry was ok, I seem to be getting the entries right most of the time with little drawdown. I was sure that the price would reach the low of the day so far, but I knew that it might be able to reach the day before low, so I was ready for that. If USDX had dropped a bit more, UJ would have done also. But it was asking a bit much for a significant USDX move just a few hours before NFP. To come out with a few pips to add to my daily target is not too bad though, the most important thing for me was to make sure that I ended the session with my daily target met....which I did

I would like to be able to see some of these news events, but I have to start work early, so is not possible. I have to play the hand that is dealt to me

You're welcome dear!

I'm glad my explanation was helpful.
It's great to hear that you are consistently getting your entries right and experiencing little drawdown.

Consistency in entry is an important aspect of successful trading, and it's great that you are able to achieve that.
However, it's also important to remember that entry is just one part of the trading process, and it's crucial to have a well-rounded approach that takes into account risk management, position sizing, and other factors that can impact your overall results.

If you continue to see success with your entry, it might be a good idea to also focus on refining your exit strategies and risk management techniques to help ensure that you are able to maximize your returns and minimize your losses over the long term.

Best Wishes.
PAT
