Hmmm, this sound so interesting. So in this case can 2 variables be used in the sense that one can create a variable lets say for the old value (which is not meant to change) and another for the current slope.
What i mean is that can one have lets say 2 Lines/arrows with one representing the original non repainting value and another for the adjusted current value. This will establish the fact that an action occurred at a particular point in time but its being adjusted to fit the current reality.

Other than visual testing in the tester.

Repaint_checker
- input indicator name, and buffer count
- shows for 5 candles, the current/previous/change values

Interpretation:
- no repainting at all will show up as all columns after the live as green
- repainting for slope coloring will show up as candle 1 repainting from 0 or empty to some value or back
- red beyond the live candle and not for slope, means repainting
- some indicators may repaint on a new candle, or on every tick
- can run in the tester alongside an indicator

gif shows a hma with slope coloring, on slope change the previous candle is repainted to accomdate drawing a new buffer line color

Yes, but that's something to sort out inside the ea, the indicator can be left alone. Sorting it out means just collecting the required values, whether any individual buffer is empty or not isn't an issue because then you'd just use the other buffer that isn't empty, if theyre just switching for slope color purposes.

can you make an alert sound only once ? that could be nice
Please can someone add vertical line alerts or arrow alerts or both onto this indicator..
And is it possible to change the colour of the dots at the bottom of the indicator that appear when the indicator is bullish into a colour that matches the bullish direction as it seems to be defaulted to the same colour as the sell indicator dots and I cannot change the colour of the dots..

You're spectacular. You've just done what i have been curious about for years....

So as long as we have just let's say "Candle 1" changing sometimes, it's safe to say the indicator isn't that bad with regards to repainting.

So i guess this can also be used to test EA's that relies on multiple indicators.?

If it uses buffers there will be a set of numbers beside the indicator name when the indicator is on the chart.

ie; "Indercatorname"(indicator settings) buff0 value buff1 value. etc.

use iCustom to call the indicator buffers and Comment to display.

The one you posted is old enough and very simple too (basic/initial and less features)
Try this,more accurate,reliable (comparing to that) and extended with extra lot of features,may be any use of for you and or others too

Candle 1 repainting some buffer values, may or may not be bad.
- for slope coloring, not bad, its just switching drawing buffers to use a different line that has a different color, but the price value is the same. An ea using it for signals should accomodate this with something like if buffer 1 is empty then use buffer 2, as whatever is used they'll have the same price value
- if not for the purpose of multicoloring, then that would be pure repainting, where regardless of buffer, the price value at that candle is different

A little description

I was able open a new thread for this purpose but because this thread is the most active,viewed and visited thread at FF,so decide to post here and drage the topic by the help of "jeanlouie" for to optimize the code (fractal) maximize its usage and credibility for mostly interested traders whoever willing to do trading by EAs

SL is an crucial part of any ea,it not only help users but possibly make users secure when high spikes in price (up/down) due to many reasons including"news"moments

The topic only serve sl trailing,purpose and intention is to find a way fractal or similar logic used for sl trailing,there are many other ways for sl trailing for example ATR,Risk Reward,SAR,MA and a lot others ways but i found this fractal way is more logical and perfect way for the above mentioned purpose because it serve and take consideration the HIGHs and LOWs of the price movement,that when broken the price usually change its direction,means change trend

Fractal no doubts is an repainting indicator in its original form,no matter it 3 bars fractal or 5 bars or 7 bars or whatever,usually it repaints bars back equal to numbers of fractal,for example if it is 5 (2 bars at left side and 2 bars at right side and 1 bar in middle) bars fractal it can repaint 2 bars back But jeanlouie kindly invented a fractal code on my request that is actually not calculating the last (0 bar) bar to form/display the fractal,so fractal showed by it do not repaint,keep in mind it will be late few bars according the numbers of bars used for

Do not worry about its late forming behavior because we are going to use it only for sl trailing that is always active in back so it is fit for the purpose

I was testing and exercising the said idea by different approaches and variety of way,so get back on the topic some day late because i was trying to make sure what happens if price goes like this and that
As far i see the 1st Nfractal can be used and suitable to only scalpers,fighting for few pips
And when used 2nd Nfractal,it work on some places (some market price situation) fine and as intended - but at some other different places and different situations it seems useless but a kind of joke -
i means like in the under example picture

As we all knows price always move in any direction in cycles,sometime smaller,sometimes medium and sometimes biggers
in other words trending with smaller,medium and bigger breakouts,that i give name "breathing"
As a result like above examples,there are times when price situation supports 1st Nfractal only,there are times when price move in a different way and supports all two 1st,2nd Nfractals and there are times market price move in a more different way and do not support 2nd Nfractal to be used as SL Trailing - and such situations occurred often
