Super Bear. Use SPX bear call credit vert to fund bearish SPX debit put spreads. Bear call vert shown at 15 delta, 26d out @ Sept expiry, will adjust Monday. The credit vert covers the cost of the near term debit put spread and also needs to have some extra for SPY call hedging the SPX bear call vert downside.

possible SPY hedge trade for the Super Bear. Would like something cheaper....

bot the cheap SPY hedges, set up for Sep 16 or 19 @ $430; sold the SPX Sep 16 and Sep 19 call verts for around $4.75 credit, first hour of the day. Never got filled on debit put spreads. Here at day's end if I could cash out the bear call verts for $1 net, I would....

...I did Sep SPY $430 call calendars, Sep 14/16 and 16/19 for 20c and 15c. Some of the bear call verts are at Sep19. Not a perfect hedge but enough to let me sleep at night....

....bot back all the SPX bear call spreads for around $1.25, so about $3.50 avg net out, nice result for 5 days in. Still sitting on SPY hedges with lotsa time - they all might see more duty.

OK, get a paper trading account somewhere and start trading play money. Watch 1,000 videos about trading on youtube. Read 1,000 articles about trading online. Buy 50 books about trading and read them. Read the good ones (prolly <10) 2-3 times. Keep the financial news on in the background (Bloomberg, CNBC) 5 days a week, even while you sleep. Then you will have a good start.

this week's set SPX/SPY for NFP Friday, not shown are cheap SPY long puts that hedge the SPX diag puts tail risk. As usual, I need sht to move on expiry day, but maybe NFP will cooperate.

SPX credit verts funding SPY dbl back spreads. The credits and debits approximately match, for a free trade. The backspreads hedge the SPX verts' tail risk. There's "sweet zones", inside the short strikes of the verts, near expiry of the same, where most of the credits are safe and the profit from the back spreads are large. Set up and managed correctly, these combos lose little or no money and have very large profit potentials. I prolly move the SPY spreads out & maybe bring in the verts to the 12th, with an eye on the CPI read 9/13. I like them better anyway with more time between the SPY & SPX spreads, the back spreads always further out, so I am shopping to straddle the next FOMC, by next week will enter that also....

Have you purchased both a call backspread and put backspread at the same time? I.e. you are expecting some directional movement In the stock market.
