I've always expected spread increase at the news time for a few minutes before and after the announcement, of course,
but not many hours. Many indices have tightened spreads around US trading hours, or their own country's hours, of course...
I'm not talking about that.

I dont normally open my account today so I checked when you mentioned, looks like it was the same but i didnt open a trade so..... dno. Surprised there isnt more noise about it.

yesterday 70 pips plus spikes, today 140, but much less spikes...

maybe that's decent trade-off.

Hello KramerFx,

Simply said, how a person defines "wealth" tells him "how" to pursue it.

"Genuine wealth" comes from "honest labor".

If anyone thinks it takes a few hours, days or months to research and develop currency trading bots that can truly be relied upon, then I feel deeply sorry for that person!!!

One can buy a million units of bots from out there, and non of them can perform set tasks.

Your argument will hold for someone who does not understand the proverb: "Nothing ventured, nothing gained!"

You wisely apply "risk exposure" to a given trading capital in order to make "desired profit".

Fancy words but you are still wrong.

If my trading capital is 10x larger but my lot size remains the same, obviously my ROI is going to drop tenfold.

Simple maths; if you can't even get this..

A little late to this discussion. I believe others have answered your question, but I'll give it a shot as well because I know you, and we've spoken about prop firms before. FTMO doesn't provide capital for funded members, but instead copies the trades of these successful members. That and the challenge fees from failures are their main revenue streams.

They can't give you an actual live account because regulations won't allow it. In most jurisdictions you need to be a licensed investment advisor to perform controlled functions with someone else's money.

Here's an analogy: you're doing really well in trading and making good money with your live account, and your buddy notices and offers you $10,000 to trade for him. You can't just add that to your own capital and trade with it, that would be illegal because you can't directly perform a controlled function with someone else's money, unless you're appropriately licensed to do so. BUT, your buddy can always open his own live account in MT4 and set it to copy your trades. There are many methods and programs to do this, I believe Forex Copier is one of the more popular ones. This way your buddy could do nothing and his account will copy your trades automatically. I believe you can set up a commission structure in there as well.

So I believe that's how FTMO (and other prop firms) get around regulations. You aren't trading their money proper, they are just copying your trades electronically with their own live accounts. There are some prop firms who claim to give you actual live money to trade with...but I really don't know how they can do that with the regulations...and I don't want to know.

I don't see anything sinister about FTMO making money off of failed challenges, especially when it's a statistical guarantee that 90-95% of forex traders lose their money. That fact is built into the system. I am personally avoiding FTMO because the time limit is a huge deterrence for me. Though I do know people who have passed it and are doing well for themselves. I'm with another prop firm that has no time limit, but way less leverage. It's all good.

I would like to see a reply to that question too. I also do free trials and noticed a rather unsavory spike is spreads. What is going on? What changed?

5% drawdown is allowed in a day but keep 1% to avoid risk is my opinion maximum 2% in day is safe also pass within two weeks or may not be recover loss in last two weeks to try again in next month

Welcome to another quick update on our ForexFactory thread. I have a few platform-related news to share, so let’s dive straight into it.

Starting from Saturday, 20 August 2022, MT4 and MT5 platforms will calculate free margin based on the account balance instead of the account equity.
Going forward, our maximum order size for Forex pairs will be set to 50 lots (only applicable to MT4 and MT5). If you would like to open a bigger position, you will have to simply submit another market order.

Regarding your comments, I have noticed quite a lengthy discussion between a few members regarding the promotion of certain EA services. As their membership has been rightfully revoked, I do not feel any need to further comment on it, I would just like to remind everyone that personal/commercial agendas are not allowed as per ForexFactory’s Code of Conduct.

Hi Doyathink, the temporary increase in spreads (mainly on US indices) has been caused primarily by the CPI news on the 10th of August. After several hours, the situation went back to normal. The situation has been investigated by our Trading department and all the cases of complaints were already settled.

FTMO since - 02/24/2022 stopped working with Russian traders. So do not worry about the fact that someone, someone - blocked. Look for another prop))
