i have another request. I have this 2 dashboards: one gives me the trend of the MA, the other one the crossing of 2 MA's. But one has a twist, it tells me how long ago the MA's crossed. I wanted to add that feature of the "bars ago" to the other dashboard. I can't look up the code as i only have the ex4. Does anyone have an example of an indicator that counts "bars ago" in mq4 format so i can look it up and try to adapt it. I tried going to code it but there isn't a lot of information about it out there and my coding skill set is still limited....
Hi Polimini, im not sure if i have the specific indicator your looking for but you are welcome to check out my indicator room and take whatever you need. i dont use indis, i just store them in a telegram room for anyone whose interested, some good stuff imo. its not a chat room. i have quite a lot of indis stored in there

Hi dear coders
I need some help as I am not a coder only been learning for sometime
I am trying to modify symbol changer indicator for my personal use actually I want to merge it with my other indicators
but the problem is I want to add symbol flag option in it so that the pair I am monitoring can be marked
I have tried so many logics but didn't got success

Here also I have tried to add another button on top of symbol button so that this new button can be flagged
and yeah it is flagged as you can see in screenshot but it resets as I change symbol and it doesn't save its values
I want this to remain flagged and reset only if indicator is removed from chart.
Please help me fix this or give some code help

existing code logic is to extract "Symbol" name from each button text.

string symbol = ObjectGetString(0,objectName,OBJPROP_TEXT);
it is using this symbol extracted from each button and collect P/L that sets color.

createButton(UniqueID+":symbol:"+string(i),SymbolName(i,true),XShift+xpos,YShift+ypos); xpos +=XSize+1;

I don't see any logic to extract and use that value to set color of your extra button.

Your extra button doesn't have any of text you can't extract as it was set as "".
One way is to assign "symbolname" as objectname and later, extract that symbol from objectname, and process.

createButton1(UniqueID+":mark:"+ Symbol() ,...

The emblem isn't supposed to have either, I've added both now and made some other changes.

Yes it is because I wanted it to be free from symbolname and it should change only on mouse click without comparing with symbol text.

I had also tried using symbol text and it didn't work
That time I asked help from Jagg and eess but I wasn't fortunate enough to get their response. You can have a look here

Pls look at another methods that I had tried to change background color of symbol button using keystroke or button on screen if you can give any input there.

Based on your suggestion I had tried using that also then the text was appearing in that extrabutton and dot if I keep text fontsize so small that it is neglisible then also result was same it used to flag but resets on symbol change.
Anyway will try again and let you know of the result
That one part that you have mentioned to collect P/L that sets color
There we get integer as a return result and based on that integer symbol button color is changed.
I didn't find a way to get an integer value in this case as here there's no order on symbol
Plus I didn't have clue how can I get an integer value from mouse click or keystroke on OnChartEvent.

Is there a way, you can suggest? I think If we get an integer value then it can be easy to change color of symbol

Regarding symbolname, I recommended to use "property name" to store symbol, not as text so that it doesn't show up as text.
However, I still don't get exactly what you are trying to do with those "extra button" you created.

In 28 currencypair mysetup is forming in some 3 or 4 pairs but not ticked all my criterias yet so I have to monitor that pair so to identify that pair easily I want to flag it so that I keep checking that and if it didn't ticked all my criteria and moved otherwise then I will reset this button to original color

That's what I am trying to do I can write that pair name on paper but that's not on screen plus its not convenient to have always

So, this is your reminder and in need of any chart, any time frame.
if you want to have consistent value - regardless of what chart or Timeframe - just use Global Value to store its value.

Each time you switch Chart ( like TF or Pair ), your inidicator re-initializes.
So, you have to have a way to restore your previous value.

In typical indicator, whole thing is recalculated when you switch any charts.
In Symbol Changer case, it just get whole value again by getting total Profit from each symbol and set color of button again.
this happens when you reinit or on every tick.

In your case, there is no data source that you can use to restore original value.
In that case, either you have to store that to Global Variable or to a file and next time when your indicator re-initialize, you can restore those your reminder value from Global Variable.


something like
Step 1: Store to GV

int IsChecked = 1;
gv = LabelID + _symbol + "_" + "Checked";
GlobalVariableSet(gv,IsChecked);

Step 2: restore and update

gv = LabelID + _symbol + "_" + "Checked";

if(GlobalVariableCheck(gv))
isChecked = (int) GlobalVariableGet(gv);

Now, use this value to update your buttoncolor like SetButtonColor(IsChecked)

You can also store value of color and restore next time.
like
Store:
buttoncolor = clrRed;
GlbalVariableSet(Symbol() + "ColorStatus",buttoncolor);

restore:
buttoncolor = (color) GlobalVariableGet(Symbole() + "ColorStatus");


I hope you get the idea.
