Hi,
Lately I am interested in currency strength trading.
When looking at different threads I see 2 main approaches to this.
1. looking at currency strength meters or indicators.
2. Looking at the index of a currency and or comparing the strength of the currency on different pairs to judge its strength.
My question is about the second approach.
Lets say that I am trading a breakout or a trend strategy on the daily tf.
I want to use currency strength as confirmation for my entries or exits or continuation.
So first step, I am looking at the indices of the relevant currencies.
But how do I determine, by looking at the chart, if the currency is strong(er) or weak(er)?
By looking at the long term trend? looking at the medium trend?
looking at the last 2 candles and see if the price went up or down?
see if it is closer to 200 EMA than it was x candles before?
For example:
The following chart of EURX
There is this nice descending triangle but price is mostly ranging..So EUR is considered as getting weaker or remains the same?
But in the last 4 candles the price moved up so is EUR considered getting stronger?
And if this last candle closes much lower does it mean EUR is now weaker(compared with last x days).
Does this mean that I should consider the EUR as moving up or down (weak or strong) in this chart?
The same question applies when comparing pairs with same base currency.
Thank you very much!
