there is nothing 100% in there , so without using stop loss your trading condition as like a Ship in an ocean without a rudder.

Both TP and SL are essential to be maintained because we know how volatile Forex market is. Its volatility can take a turn anytime. That’s why traders should remain alert all the time. Stop loss protects traders from any sudden untoward market movement. It helps you to have a narrow escape from balance crashes.

Exactly. And any trader can`t use "set it and leave it" technique without TP and SL. And that technique is one of the best and stressless.

Dear traders, I want to ask you questions about trading: 1. Do you use stoploss or not? 2. Why do you use stoploss and why you don't? 3. How many pips do you use your stoploss? thanks anyway
Ignored
Hi Ronald

1. I use stop loss all the time
2. My leverage is 20x, so I can't afford a loss more than 2%. So using stop loss is mandatory on my system.
3. It is not fixed. I use ATR 20D *1,5 +SPR
Don't give up. It took me around 30k hours to be profitable.

I don't use stop loss for small-lot long-term trades because obviously you should expect deep drawdowns in your position in the course of trading and using stop loss could be unproductive. However most of my trades are done using scalping.

1. Do you use stoploss or not? 2. Why do you use stoploss and why you don't? 3. How many pips do you use your stoploss? My Answers: 1. I use stop losses and sometimes mental stops (But I ALWAYS cut my losses short) 2. I use stop losses to let my winners run trying to get at minimum 1:5 (Risk/Reward) 3. I use ATR (20D) *1,5 on a especify time But I don't trade FOREX anymore, only STOCKS.

Hi!
I'm testing the use of ATR to define the Stop Loss level. But my question is, in which time frame u use the 20 period and why x1,5? I think it's better x2, if not the stop is to close to the price u open the trade, at least trading with a M15 time frame!
Thanks mate!

Just talked to a trader on social media and he never used a stop loss and he blew his 3k account. Happens all the time. Hard to blow an account when trading 1-2% risk per trade with a SL.

Using stop loss will protect you from getting losses. But we see traders are averse to using it because they can’t feel that a sudden volatility can blow off their capital. Using stop loss should be the part of one’s trading plan.

It's all about how you use a stop loss. When I trade futures, I seem a stop loss as a max loss per trade. If the entry is not good enough which means the stop loss is not beyond some structure high/low or VAH/VAL, I will just give the trade up. I used to trade without stop loss but it was an order flow type of trading. Both win and loss are small but win rate is huge.

Yes, I use stop loss because I feel its importance. It saves me from big losses. Previously I wasn’t used to using stop loss and due to that I needed to regret many times. When I became experienced, I started to feel how important it is to use stop loss to shield against losses. Now I use stop loss on a regular basis in my trades.

I use it only when my trade become positive. Then I put stop loss in positive area and that way I can't lose any money on that trade.

1. Yes, i use stopploss. SL is a lifesaver.
2. I do not want to lose everything when market is against my trade. Minimizing risk is main factor for using SL.
3. It is related to trade and instrument

Those who have lost money due to the unpredictability of the market will regularly use a stop loss.

1. Sometimes

2.

I might not use it if it's a tiny leverage trade and things are trending (also maybe a bit choppy) in my favour and waiting for a few days to months or may just want some small gains.

I will use SL on high leverage trades intraday to swing trade with good setups and believe it has found it's Pivot point before a swing in a favourable direction.

3. Depends on the extremity of the Trade setup. If I have missed the lowest low or highest high for the Setup then i will leverage less to cater the R:R with the SL just beyond those Pivot points to ride along more safely on the Trade.

Stop loss is crucial because it protects our accounts from significant losses and improves our money management when used properly. Many traders experience trading failures due to a lack of trading plans and incorrect stop loss usage.

It depends on how your trading style. If I trade intraday, I don't use SL nor TP. I monitor all my running positions. If the market against my setup, I'll exit the market right away. If I do swing, I always set my SL. Don't think about SL hunter, one way or another it'll save your entire account.
