On my platform, the order is called an entry stop. I'm guessing the price was skipped through. I understand that with big news events, sometimes a gap is created. But, nobody else seems to have had that problem last night.

Usually the charts show a slippage like that. Looking at the 1 minute chart around 9:30 gmt (when the order should've been filled) it was a whole candle as if the price was hit. Maybe I don't know how to read charts/slippage, but I have definitely seen some major gaps on charts. Maybe that isn't what slippage is though, I dunno. You use ibfx right?

ahh I see. Oh well. I use forex.com, but they have problems too, but usually not around prices at least not with me.

Any follow up on this? Has anyone provided funbot with a trade log with which to compare against the EA results? Markj, if you have said trade log, can you post it here? I'd be willing to go through and mark up charts, look at the code and analyze to see if I can spot why there's discrepancies with the EA. Then, I'd provide that input to funbot who hopefully can continue with the project.

I appreciate your efforts with EA. As IIambert has said when there seems to be quite a lot of discrepancy in results when compared to manual backtesting. I campared results from start of October until current and a lot of the EA results do not compare correctly. Anyway as An example I have taken on of the days and inserted the chart. The EA calculated only 1 and 2 profit when manually testing it should be taking profit 1 x 2, profit 2 x 2 and profit 3 x 1.

I will be out for a few days but will take a look at the code and see if I can spot any problems.

Thanks for providing this initial version of the EA. Can you remain engaged in this project? Is there some specific information we could provide which will help troubleshoot discrepancies between the manual backtests vs the EA backtests?

llambert3: I think most of your question is answered with being able to set your BaseTime in the inputs. Whatever hour you specify corresponds to the hour on your terminal's server. For instance, if I use 10 as BaseTime, 10:00am=8:00am London Time in my terminal...Also keep in mind your spread difference. Buys are triggered on Ask price--so for instance if your spread is 5 and your BuyOffset is 20, a buy is triggered at a BID distance of 15 from the baseline for the day. The bars you see painted in the charts are all BID prices. This is one of the reasons why I split all those variables out into inputs.

Markj: Could you please include the dates/times on your charts? That way I can run the EA and physically look at the same chart you are showing and figure out what is happening. If it's easier I only need your explanation and the date.
I ran the EA for October and I don't see the problem you brought up regarding not replacing a buy order after 3 profits are taken. On October 6th I see it did just that. Could you give me a date I can look at?

I have a question: What is the accuracy to hit the TP of 14 Pips vs. a loss of 20 pips?

I've gotten three out of 5 this week. (14 pips vs. 20 SL) However the three wins also went along with wins for 26 and 50.

I have been playing this way... 1 lot for 14, 1 for 26, and one for 50.

This week so far I have been stopped twice then the trades were activated in the other direction for complete wins. Monday was 90 pips, Tuesday and Wednesday 30 pips each for 120 for the week. This is a LIVE IBFX account.

I'm really hoping that the accuracy increases. I am also toying with the idea of increasing the trigger range to 25 pips rather than 20. If I had played that way, I would have had no losses at all this week.

This is a great thread. I've been using a modified Kamanda method also very successfully since early last week.

I find that a 25 trigger at london open is better than the 20, it seem to eliminate premature triggers that can lead to getting stopped out. try it

I am finding daily range system, so I am happy when I see your thread
Your strategy is nearly the same the first concept of Vegas Wealth Buider, and Vegas suggest Vegas Fibs to filter. Have you ever thought about this, and another indicators to filter ?

Someone say that this strategy is outdated, I am wondering is it true?

I have just backtest EA by Aha, I can not believe that result is too bad. I am learning MQL4, so I hope I can rewrite this EA in next few days.

Have you just seen the amazing spike because of GBPUSD news? Geeze ... ooch ... Do not trade the "London open method" during a GBP news day or you'll get burnt.

Interestingly enough though, this is the first time in the last 4 weeks (at least - that's all I've quickly checked) that this trade has been stopped out on news. The previous times were all where the Cable just meandered slowly towards the stop. So saying Do Not Trade during a GBP news day would meant you miss out on a lot of trades. A lot of times the trade is triggered by the news anyway.

And how do you define news? There is generally 9.30 GBP news most days - it's just that most of it doesn't affect the Cable too greatly.

Both longs and shorts stopped out today

result -120

however according to the rules we can now re-enter if triggered, as the stoppes were hit during the 9:00 hourly bar

I know of a trader that has subscription members. who uses the same method that you people are discussing here. The 0.00 GMT method. Entry prices are a certain piont away from 0.00GMT and stops ect. He uses it with great sucsess, but if there is a loss one day, they double up ( On lots)the next, .. Piont is, there is traders out there using this method on live account with great success
