This does not define his point as valid and it doesn’t justify his actions. No one is threatening Russia. His security concerns are just a pretext to invade Ukraine and if Ukraine becoming a NATO member is an issue for him, it’s because he is a paranoid and a psychopath and he acts like boy turned down by his girlfriend. He hates NATO and USA because during a conversation with Clinton he asked if Russia becoming a NATO member could be a good idea. Clinton did everything possible to avoid discussing this possibility.
Now how can Ukraine become a NATO member when Russia was previously rejected?! Putin cannot live with that humiliation.

I think that any leader, who act normal and have undeniably good record sowing respect to the international laws and directives and have a peaceful co-existence with his neighbors, will always be respected and welcomed as a member of any organization protecting freedom and human rights. Putin is not one of those leaders.

Yes mate respect for that. But again why Finland does not have problems with NATO being on their doorstep? Why Sweden has no problems with NATO being on their doorstep? Why Switzerland has no problems having NATO on their doorstep?
All these countries are democratic countries and they know NATO has no reason and will never attack them as NATO is a military defending organization done by democratic countries. However NATO can take in use some of its articles to help and defend a country where the human rights are not respected or a country sovereignty is under a threat by another country.

This explains why Putin has problem with NATO.
1. Russia is not a democracy.
2. Putin is threatening the freedom and the sovereignty of another country.
2. Knows that NATO does not tolerate autocracy and totalitarian regime which on top af all domestic challenges is also threatening the security of whole bunch of another independent countries.

I didn't miss anything... we all are going to hell quite soon... this is why I started my tread about the end of the US stock market almost 4 years ago... though Russia is quite likely to feel better than everyone else because it has all the natural resources needed and relatively small population...

While inevitably all the speculation and comment as always in these cases focus's on justification, capability and (My Dick is Bigger than Yours) and Noise.. "Hesaid/She said They said" and will attract all the usual longtail looney posters.

This morning Russian economy under serious pressure
Western banks doing business with Russia getting whacked.. DB etc.. . Gazprom etc down 30% Rouble down 12% yield on Russia Sovereign bonds over 10%..
But its not about whats happening today..


NATO European nations , who had been ambivalent about increasing defense spending .. will go full bore into increasing defense capability..Great news for US Defence industry.. . Europes energy policy will sharply pivot against Russian dependence, a process of disengaging and excluding Russia from the western financial system will now gain momentum.. other western nations like Finland and Sweden who have remained outside the NATO umbrella will reassess that policy. Putin wiil now have to pivot his economic focus to China. Anyone who thinks there is any love lost in China about Russia is strategically dyslectic.
"Dopey Joe" has so far played this beautifully from US strategic interest viewpoint.
IMHO Putins made a terrific tactical move and a major major strategic Fkuc-Up.

- it's also good for the arms market sales;
- etc.
