influence of forex futures

how come forex futures are only 5% of total forex volume but when the long:shorts ratios in forex futures reach their extremes, drastic effects are usually seen in across the whole forex market?

Futures are not part of forex. The foreign exchange is a decentralized market while futures are centralized.
Am I wrong?

you are correct. But so am I about the COT report

1. Big pockets are investing using futures, so they influence the market.
2. Its good to know that the future price is made out of the forex spot market price. Options work with future prices and you get paid a premium (volatility) and when this falls the market gets away for the exits, so they don't lose money (more volatility more profit).

You can see the relation of spot fx as > futures > options > big money going in and out > influence of positioning at the price.

Yeah, I knew that. But for some reason, forex was not futures in my mind. Anyway, I googled and found this:
