as it turned out...a straddle would have been nice...

But I did get in the GBP on the 3rd minute candle and made some nice profit

+20 with 3 lots and +5 with 2 more lots.

Nice trade.

The cable failed to breach the high right after the data this time the market will drop breaking the low as of this time...

That might be what sparked it but I think the technical failure at the higher levels was also important. If such a small thing causes such a big decline it seems unlikely the Euro or pound are going much higher.

Hey what do u think of this strategy and has anyone seen this in the past?

1st off the GBP had bad news come out in the overnight session and GBP dropped 100 pips.
2nd big news for $ so maybe thats why GBP didnt go further down and news makes it go in opposite direction, nice move it went 60 pips
3rd then a bit later it goes back to wher it started before that US news ( full reversal) and holds there for a bit
4rth it then breaks another 50 pips downward in same direction as original GBP news
( GBP news must have been pretty important)

The KEY is the 3rd statement it stalled at start of news with that big movement prior, it does another movent with the original GBP news !!

Has anyone seen this at all and could be a nice startegy if seen again?

I recall a few weeks back when the US was getting hit with bad news after bad news, yet it kept getting stronger. Merlin kept making this clear. Could this be the beginning of the same trend? Is the market just looking for dollar strength because it has been so weak for a while?

I am not really sure why it happened. I am glad it did. strong moves like that are just free money. Here is to the rest of the week being filled with crazy strong moves.

Most of us have gone through that stage notouch. I don't fault you for your skeptisism. Fact is, I do this all day everyday. When the price is moving that hard for no appearant reason, it is often a stellar opportunity as it was for me and many others I am sure. Hopefully you will learn to recognize them quickly enough to profit from them too. I actually only banked 27 pips of it from the short pullback sell on the pound at 1.9068. I was disappointed in myself for not taking the 1.9095 pullback when I first recognized what was happening. There is money to be made here notouch but you will have to be open minded and believe. Negative attitude will bring ngative balances in a hurry for sure.
