no..if you're NOT going to trade over news and hold weekends its 1:100 and if you want to its 1:30. It really is plenty of leverage as you mustn't go below 5% drawdown of equity in 1 day or 10% of starting equity overall.

I hope you're all doing great, here we are with another (today rather short) FTMO ForexFactory Update.

Starting with the platforms as usual: due to scheduled maintenance on all our platforms, on Saturday, 15 January 2022, trading will be halted from 00:05 am to 05:00 pm platform time on MetaTrader (GMT+2 / CET+1 on cTrader). Kindly manage your trades accordingly.

On Monday, 17 January 2022, due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, the following changes to the usual trading hours will apply:

  1. US30.cash, US100.cash, US500.cash, JP225.cash, and USTN10.f will close early at 8:00 pm;
  2. Metals (XAU – Gold, XAG – Silver, XPT – Platinum, and XPD – Palladium) and NATGAS.f will close early at 9:30 pm;
  3. VIX.cash will close early at 6:30 pm;
  4. USOIL.cash will close early at 9:15 pm;
  5. US Shares will be closed all day;

As per our convention, the above times are expressed in MT platform time (GMT+2/CET+1).

Hi MatDerKater, as I have mentioned in my previous posts, an increased gap between the bid and the ask price during the rollover is unfortunately inevitable, even with CFDs - that is why we also close the trading hours for 10 minutes during each rollover as the conditions get temporarily very inconvenient. I’ve been briefly checking the spreads on our majors and in most cases, the spreads get tight again after approx. 10 minutes, which is well within the industry standard.

Hello Shay14, to make a long story short, EAs are allowed, however, you have to be cautious about other FTMO Traders that may be using the same EA as well.
As you obviously know, there is a limit of $400,000 on FTMO Accounts per trader/strategy. If there would be another FTMO Trader already managing $400,000 in FTMO Accounts and using the same exact EA as you (therefore executing the same exact/very similar positions), our limit of $400,000 per strategy would be breached and we would ask you to kindly use a different strategy.
However, it is also important to note that there are thousands of Expert advisors out there, so the chances that there are FTMO Traders already using the same one as you are rather low.

Hi Djxput, thank you for your post and let me get straight to answers:

  1. Yes. you can do that. There is no rule on the volume of these trades or for how long would you have to hold them.
  2. Yes, we can. However, please note that we can merge together only FTMO Accounts (not FTMO Challenges or Verifications), both accounts have to be in the same currency, same risk type and both also have to be either new FTMO Accounts with no trades or fresh directly after the Profit Split.
  3. Yes, you can. Just as the FTMO Challenge, the Verification starts with your first open positions, so you may wait for a few weeks or even months before you start trading.
  4. I assume you mean FTMO Account here. There are no “minimum days” you would have to score here, but naturally, if we see that the trading account has been idling for a while, we will reach out to ask what is going on. If you already know that you will not be able to trade for, let’s say several weeks, it is always for the best if you let us know first so we know that everything is fine. Also, if you do not manage to make any profits on your FTMO Accounts even for several months, as long as you stay within the Loss limits, we will not close the account if we see you’re still actively trading.
  5. Speaking of indices, there are no restricted news whatsoever. The restricted news apply only to 7 Forex pairs and Crude Oil (the full list is available at https://ftmo.com/en/faq/can-i-trade-news/).

Hi Ghostbiker, LoveScalping and lynnc gave you the right answers - 1:100 for the normal account type, 1:30 for the Swing account type (which then allows you to hold your positions over the weekend and trade all news even on the FTMO Account).

If your target is 10-20 pips, then in literally any other pair except the EURUSD, the spread spikes between the NY Close and Asian Open will take your Stop Loss out all the time.....

....but really, there is no need to hold trades with such tight targets overnight and it isn't really advisable to take such trades anytime much after 6pm London time.

Exactly, only swing trades with much larger targets and stops need to be held overnight. 10-20 pips is day trading.
I have a question, is slippage on MT5 and MT4 the same? I just received my funded account and noticed some very high slippage values sometimes up to 5 pips, this is crazy I never got that much on other prop firms or even on live account with very high balance.

Grats on your funded. Not sure how about you give some examples or even if you have a screenshot; I can compare ctrader if you want. (but not funded ... atm

...no idea what other prop firms are like.....a lot of the reason I went with FTMO is they are the only respectable prop firm that allows CTrader instead of MT4.

Im mainly trading the us30/us100 still in the challenge but kind of like the spreads but am not that familiar with what other brokers have. Currently trading after hours and the spreads are ok ... (using ctrader).
Does anyone successfully finishes FTMO first challenge ??

Here are some changes I would love to see FTMO implement. Please let me know your thoughts for each one!

1. Lower fees for all challenges
2. Create a direct funding model for traders that don't want to do challenges
3. Allow weekly withdrawal of profits from funded account(s)
4. Shorten the capital raises time frame from 4 months to 3 months
5. Reduce the profit target for the challenge phase and verification phase to 8% and 4% respectively
6. If a trader doesn't pass the verification phase but is in profit, allow the trader to start for free in phase 2
7. Allow funded traders to pay a fee to reset their funded account instead of having to go through another challenge
8. Give the option for the profit split to be a combination of fiat and crypto, not only one or the other
9. Allow accounts bigger than $400k
10. Have one $400k challenge instead of having to purchase 2 $200k challenges and manage them both
11. Lower the minimum trading days for both the challenge and verification phases
