Hi Brixen, I completely agree with you - I only trade the DAX now and as you say, we can't expect maximum volatility every day. I dumped the "many instruments" approach some time ago to focus and it was the right thing to do. I'm not quite as proficient as you are squeezing the pips out, but I get by!

DAX CASH INDEX official left 2 gaps open last days/last week: 15973 and 15690.
Who knows if and when they will be closed.

Prices are compressed in strict range since wednesday. Typically wild horse will ride in furious way after a couple days of narrow range, but this slow, lazy price action could last for more, specially if they want freeze the market for a new sudden move when nobody expect it.........
Then consolidation around previous ATH hit on mid August it's normal, specially after nearly 600 pts rally since last friday's low.

Today US NFP at 14:30CET will bring new fuel.

I hold my FDXS 993 bought yd and I will add below and well below my entry price, but I'm aware that below 950/930 zone the wind could change.........

A reliable way of trading needs a multiple choice of instruments that you could trade during the day, imho.
So in this way you can accept some tool sleeping one day while some other marching on. But you have to follow many instruments at same time and frankly I'm not able to do so, specially with my personal life, family, kids, things to do, duties, and so on....

So I understand your point, in the end it's a personal choice, and every choice has pros and cons, obviously!

Two symbols for forex (EU, GU) to trade 1 symbol: EG (no options only spot trading 1)
Now my basket has 5 assets but 3 symbols for analysis.
It is working fine.
It took me more than 20 years to get aware that my mind is not able to handle more than 3 symbols.
As you say it is personal choice.
Actually, trading itself is a personal sport. You have to use your own mind to do. Can't depend on signals, tips, forecasts, chart studies etc. etc.
No matter of study, tips or guidance can assist you beyond helping you improve by 20%.
80% of the time you are on your own.
For that you have to enjoy playing the sport as long as you are being rewarded by forces you can't see and can't control.
It is simply a one-sided game no matter howsoever smart you may think you are.

Hi Simnz, I think that is a very good summary of the challenges that we face!I've been thinking this morning about how to tweak my approach and tools when the market is compressed on a single instrument rather than just watch it slip by - an athelete trains and tweaks their style to get the best performance, not that I'm suggesting that I'm an athelete!

I've noticed that specially last 10, 20 days roughly, the high or the low of the day, I mean offiicial DAX session data, was hit between 8 and 9CET.

Anyway for now prices seem going nowhere.........probably only waiting for the afternoon data.

When you find the right balance in your skills, in your personal choice, with your financial tools, you are in peace with yourself and you can better handle the obvious difficulties of this job.

Then as I said, it's only a personal choice.
I choose this job some years ago, mainly for a wish of FREEDOM. And trading the DAX in this way, guarantees me this FREEDOM, as timing, as days to trade, as going outside after 10 CET, or ending the day early if wild horse is sleeping, or to work for 20 hours a day when Indices are exploding in volatility.

Official Wed gap: What is the figure?

Is WSJ the site to look for statistics of DAX40?

I am still confused by the word gap used for various functions .

Yes, it is. Only DAX CASH INDEX official data to calculate gaps for me, WSJ take his data from XETRA FRANFURT official.
Anyway you can calculate gaps whatever you wish.......

US JOBS data should be good, but what it really matters here is market reaction, specially at the end of this week.

So I have 2 chances for my last FDXS 988:
1. wait for US JOBS placing a stop at breakeven and a target roughly +100 pts, maybe more;
2. or to close my position on 1st decent spike up before the data and AMEN!
