Here is my 1st weeks test on a demo. I have also been running Phoenix on 2 of my real accounts. When I can isolate them from the Firebird trades I will post them...

Quoting HendrickDislikedMode 4 is very special! It's not a combination of Mode 1 and 2. It's.... well very different! Look at the Contest. What do you see? <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:City w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Phoenix</st1
lace></st1:City> in the top ten (as long as it takes!) out of 260 Expert Advisors. It's now even at the first place. Why? Because it's a good EA. Why is it a good EA? I won’t tell you because that's my little secret. Look at the code and try to understand why the Contest version of <st1:City w:st="on"><st1
lace w:st="on">Phoenix</st1
lace></st1:City> is performing that well. You will not find it in the code! Why? Once again it's my little secret. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o

The next version of <st1:City w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Phoenix</st1
lace></st1:City> (version 2007) will be a rocket! Will it be available to the public? No! Why not? Because I think all me efforts, all these hundreds of hours I spent developing it should finally pay off. Do you think I'm selfish? No, I don't think so. Look at the Contest, only a few of the competitors made their EA available to the public. You have <st1
lace w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Phoenix</st1:City></st1
lace> 5. It's not posted as an ex4.file so you're free to do with it whatever you like (not for commercial purposes because it's still copyrighted). <o

Quoting bellefemmeDislikedNo body gonna shoot you !
You are very kind and generous by sharing your knowledge with us !
Thank you
Yes, I think you deserve to keep your secret
If you are willing to share the secret, you are not a human.. but an angel
Would you sell your latest Phoenix (the best version maybe) ?
If it is.. please don't sell it too expensive so then a simple person like me will be able to buy
I believe many people willing to buy your EA.
Viva Phoenix! Viva Hendrick!Ignored
Quoting alamanjaniDislikedHendrix, I second upper statement. You deserve pay for your hard work and efforts.
Since I'm not able to make money on my own in Forex, I would also be interested in buying your EA (if you ever decide to start selling it) if not to expensive.[/QUOTE
Thanks for your support Alamanjani. See my latest post (Clarification).Ignored
Quoting pabloskiDislikedWell, I use EAs to make money. It's reasonable that you create EAs (in fact modify EAs, as you created "<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 /><st1:City w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Phoenix</st1
lace></st1:City>" from "Firebird") also to make money.
You say "Will it be available to the public? No! Why not? Because I think all me efforts, all these hundreds of hours I spent developing it should finally pay off. ".
The only way I found that something will not be available for the public and will pay off at the same time is by selling it, right?
I agree with Tradeigel that there are a LOT of people that contributed with your project and helped you developing <st1:City w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Phoenix</st1
lace></st1:City> with comments, recommendations, back and forward tests, ideas and would be a bit of unfair to sell them the EA that was developed in part by themselves.
Yes, you are the owner of <st1:City w:st="on">Phoenix</st1:City>, but there are a lot of people behind this project, starting from TraderSeven (the creator of Firebird who I think should be mentioned in "<st1:City w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Phoenix</st1
lace></st1:City>" code) to every member of Forex-TSD and ForexFactory forums that became part of it. I entirely read the thread about Firebird in Forex-TSD forum. There, <st1:City w:st="on"><st1
lace w:st="on">Phoenix</st1
lace></st1:City> was born, and I see not only your effort, but the effort of all the people that was part of its development.
I really thought you were different by giving <st1:City w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Phoenix</st1
lace></st1:City> to everyone. You were staying out of the crowd and I was happy with that. You said you like to think "out of the box". Well, start selling <st1:City w:st="on"><st1
lace w:st="on">Phoenix</st1
lace></st1:City> wouldn't be a good way to think out of the box, you will indeed be doing what everyone does.
By reading your post, I see that your conception of being rewarded is receiving money, and that's not true. You have already received the best recompense someone could receive, which is: "Thank you, Hendrick".
There are two ways a person can get rewarded for his/her valuable work. One is tangible and the other intangible. Here you found the gratitude, help and admiration of many people, that's the intangible way. The other is money, the tangible one.
You are now choosing the last way, and that's understandable in the times we live. In this word most of people think that way.
I if had to choose, I would definitely stay with the intangible recompense. If I were the owner of such an EA, I would be happy to give it for free, help others and stay with the profits it generates in my account (and the $40,000 of the Championship, of course).
Smjones's signature says: "Not matter what we are talking about, we are talking about money". Finally he is right.

Too sad you don't "think out of the box" anymore…
Don't get me wrong with my words Hendrick, I respect your decision. I'm a 18 year old Argentinian boy and this is just the way I think.

Quoting AlanDDislikedHenrick,
You can't be thanked enough for your efforts with bringing the EA this far. We should all hope that you will help us 'programming challenged' in the future with vers. P5 as I'm sure it will continue to mature. There are great minds on this BB falling the EA who will like to see this continue.
Regarding your confession, I almost take it as a challenge to figure out your 'secret' in why the contest EA is doing so well. With the few 'hints' you've provided in the above quote as well as other postings, I'm willing to bet that it may have something to do with;
1. Partial performance is based on matching the Pair to the EA rather than trying to get the EA to work on the Pair. Thus having chosen USD/CAD for example may not have yielded the same results as USD/JPY. Since you stated that even if we examine the contest code, we will not find it. Then it must be some other variable.
2. Optimization of the variables are definitely key to the superior performance. Since mode 4 will be very different, then perhaps you will be utilizing something like 'walk forward' optimization? That way it will almost always be optimized based on a historic data range. There are dangers to this method.
3. Part of the secret may be utilization of GA or NN technology. Given MT4's limitations, possibly GA enhancements. My only other thought is that you are using another development program to aide in your development of P5 or P2007.
I guess this makes for a good mystery. Regardless, as mentioned before, you can't be thanked enough for your efforts!
R,
Alan

Quoting blewmoonDislikedI found the data. Heres Cable on 90% test since 30th June 2005 to now, on mode 3.
It doesn't do very well until trade # 315.....then it has a great run.Ignored
Quoting HendrickDislikedOk. I think my latest post needs some clarification. I’ve received several e-mails from people asking me to make them an indicator or an expert advisor. And of course for free or maybe a small fee, but not too much! You know this guy Hendrick? He believes in sharing, so come on let’s ask him to make free things for us! If I’m some kind of machine: push the button and you get your free EA! So at a certain moment I really got the feeling that some people are taking advantage of me. It made me a little desperate and that’s why I wrote this latest message. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o

This version of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:City w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Phoenix</st1
lace></st1:City> and all the following versions will stay available for free to the public. Maybe I will make one or two EA’s to sell and maybe not. All I want at this moment is to continue the work on <st1:City w:st="on"><st1
lace w:st="on">Phoenix</st1
lace></st1:City> with the support of all these nice people in this forum. So let’s get back to work again!<o

Quoting HendrickDislikedHi Bellefemme,
See my latest post (Clarification). We'll continue the work on Phoenix and Phoenix and all the following versions will stay free of charge and we all are going to work together to make this Phoenix the best EA ever!Ignored
Quoting fxkamperDislikedI doubt it will be of any consolation, but I think it's worth mentioning that "Ovenstone" is no longer available on any public forums. I removed it and have now continued it's development on a private forum for almost the same reasons you quote.
The final straw was when some young idiot told me that I needed to hurry up because the last version was not making money quickly enough and proceeded to tell me how lazy I was because updates where taking to long and I was not answering his emails quickly enough?
Can you believe some people?
I wish you the best of luck of luck Hendrick, if you leave a succesful EA on a public forum, you are going to need it.
Cheers
