This thread was started so traders can discuss OHLC levels and the importance or significance as trading levels.

NOTE : You cannot change the name or the indicator will not work.
A "Default Number of Bars back" and "Default Equal pips distance number" in the inputs are set when the indicator is first loaded on the chart then values can be edited and changed directly on the display.

10/06/2021 : Apologies to the 10 who have already downloaded the indicator I have made a slight update to the code as I noticed the line labels showing on top of display. Please download again.

Hi cja,

Nice tool. Some feedback for you:

1. As I noted in a separate post, this OHLC tool could benefit from tooltips that describe what each of the controls is for. That would be so much easier than referring back to your post#1 (or trial and error until memorized).

Example:
ObjectSetString(0, objName, OBJPROP_TOOLTIP, "# of bars back");

2. Could you please offer a toggle to offer either HLINES (as you currently use), or short segments of horizontal TREND objects (which I propose) ?

When there are a lot of HLINES going all the way back in time, it can be quite tough to spot what is the reference OHLC that anchors each line. By using TREND OBJECTS, if the starting point is at the 00:00 for the "Daily" (or whatever) reference timeframe, then one can easily see where the anchor started.

Some extra detail: Obviously the TREND object for the Open price would start at 00:00 for the specific day. I think it's just fine to start the High and Low lines from the same start of the day, because it's likely too much overhead to determine the exact time during-the-day when those extremums occurred. For the Close, I guess you can experiment, and see if you start from the Close at the last bar of the day, or perhaps stick with 00:00. I'm not sure it matters much, but most likely starting from the final Close bar makes the most sense, since that's where it actually does occur on the chart.

3. I have shown your OHLC tool on a chart with a candle aggregator. I use my own that is tied to my environment, but I think "Superbars" is the name of something similar ?? You can observe how convenient it is to help spot the price that anchors each of your OHLC HLINES. This would also nicely complement the use of TREND object lines as well.

Would you consider building in such an aggregator into your tool? (Toggle on/off would be great). It is a really nice feature to see the Daily (or whatever TF) candles imposed on a lower TF chart.

4. I'm still trying to figure out how "Equal" and the associated number of pips works. I couldn't see what it was doing and could benefit from further explanation.

5. The "S" for Single day lines is nice. I see that it seems to display on the 4 OHLC lines for whatever is the first "Daily" reference period. I can control which day by changing the "3" to whatever day. I don't know if there's any easier way to isolate and pick a specific day, but it could be that a checkboxes with "S", "1", "2", "3" might be helpful, the first being user-controllable number, but the "1", "2", "3" being very specific number of "Daily" references back. This is just a rough idea that needs more refinement I'm sure.

Thanks for your OHLC tool.

Kent (pips4life)

P.S. In my other recent post, I had thought OHLC also created a VLINE called "vert" but I take that back. Therefore there is no name conflict as I had supposed.

Hi Cja,,,,, out of desperation, I was wondering if you could help me code this specific price candle in price, I took my time to stress the description of it in the image attached below,
I can be grateful if you can have it coded with a few twists in the parameters according to your coding experience and your understanding on it otherwise I just need it to show on current time and the ability to select timeframes

If I can add more to it then I would add something crazy like a signal when price returns for entry I'm guessing you can see it (zero drawdown)

Thank you in advance GODLY coder
