I haven't posted much, but I have been trading a variation of this strategy successfully. Like I mentioned before, I made some changes on the MM side of things, but mostly its still the same. I've also been using an EA as it works as a good tool to back test looking for the best settings. Below is the results trading on a small live account after forward testing first on demo. I have also shared an FTMO link to a free trial I passed again this week only trading with this strategy. This strategy works and I thank forex1x8 for sharing it....

Hi
I also do not post much because I have been trying to find a way to make winning trades with this counter. I am not always in a position to be at my computer at the relevant times and the 16.30(9.30 NY) trade is very difficult without an EA to help handle the speed of placing trades necessary usually.

I have therefor been looking into the trades based on the highs and lows of the 4H candles, specifically those that finish at 13.00 which covers the London open, and the one that finishes at 17.00 which covers the NY open and also the next one finishing at 21.00 which includes more of NY.

I set buy and sell stops 22pips above and below the highs and lows (today first trades set are buy 34408 and sell 34285), stops are 100 no TP, I set trailing stop at 85 pips. I try not to interfere with the trades but if I get a good run early and quickly like when there is news or at the NY open then I may close manually with +100 pips profit. So far this is working out quite nicely because I am away from my computer soon after setting the first trade, the TS seems to be better than setting a TP, but more experience will tell in the long run how good it will be. If the first trade has triggered and not been closed when the next 4H candle has closed I just add the next trades. It is also quite possible to make profit from both buy and sell trades depending on the volatility that day.

I would also be glad to hear about your(MDFX) settings for your trades, ie at what times are your trading what are your parameters for entry TP and SL. I prefer to test forward on my real account with small risk.

Im doing something similar to this strategy and took the essence of this strategy to enhance my one. Took the today entry manually and wanted to enter again. But felt its going to go opposite and I quit. Enough for the day. Attached results are from the demo test.

So it seems there's been a lot of interest in my approach to this strategy. I'll share the details below.

Looks great mrdfx. Can I ask were those results obtained using the EA? Thanks, blam {quote}

Yes blam, I am trading making use of only the EA now. Initially I was doing it manually until the EA came along. Makes things easier especially when I'm not around my PC.

So initially what caught my attention to this strategy was the simplicity around it, it almost seemed too easy. Just set some pending orders and take profit voila.. Well sort of, but not quite.. I liked how it was a 1-2 trades max per day, in and out on the same day, no holding orders overnight strategy.

I did like the strategy, but not the MM, for me it was too static and the market is never static. Everyday is different and some days there's more or less volatility so some days the high/low box might be big or some days not much due to low volatility, so setting a fixed SL and TP didn't work for me, there had to be a better way so I thought about using the volatility as part of a tool to calculate the SL and TP. That's where I got the idea to use the high/low box itself as the SL and TP. If the high/low of the box was 20000 then I would set the SL and TP at 20000 using a 1:1 RR.

I didn't like the fact of using an inverted RR cos if the win rate is not high enough an inverted RR will not make a good profit long term, so 1:1 was the minimum. Now after testing using the full box for SL and TP it looked like that wasn't working either as it was hard to hit TP many times as the box was too big, so then I got the idea to use half box instead with a 1:1 RR so now if the total box high/low was 20000 then I'd set my SL and TP at 10000. As soon as I made this adjustment I started to see an improvement of the profitability. As the TP was smaller it got hit more frequently. The win rate was not very high, but due to the RR it made profit, not much, but just enough to keep working on it.

I then started experimenting on the pending orders distance, what was better 1000 points, 2000, 3000? After much testing using 1000 was the best overall compromise to get in early enough and still make a profit. Then came the risk tolerance. As I don't like risking much and US30 can be expensive I was experimenting with using only 1-2% per order. Using 1-2% I was getting less than 15% DD, with 1% less than 10% DD which for me is very good. Depending on your risk tolerance this can be scaled up or down I guess.

Now the final part of making this strategy a winner is using something called asymmetric compounding. Asymmetric compounding is a money management strategy where you add the profit from one trade to the next trade. For example, on the first trade we use a RR of 1:2, so we risk 1% to make 2%. If we win the first trade then we make 2% profit. Now on the next trade we will add the profit from the first trade so we will add the 2% profit we made to the original 1% we risking, so now on the next new trade we will be risking 3% to make 6%. If we win then we make 6% profit, and added to the first trades profit we made a total of 8% profit. On the next trade (3rd order) we will reset back to the original RR of 1:2. Now in the case that we lose any trade we simply reset to the original RR. The cycle will go for not more than 2 trades so we will add the profits for a max of 2 trades then it resets back to the original RR. Using asymmetric compounding we aim to capitalize on the wins and maximize the profits. Using this has greatly increased my profits trading this strategy.

Well I think I've covered most of it. I am still testing multiple scenarios trying to optimize the settings further and I will continue my forward testing. Like I said before its a simple strategy and with the right approach it can be very good.

Good afternoon Friend I deal every day. It's no use posting my results alone. I already know that the method works.

I was wrong. I thought it was a very simple method, we would have more people interested. I cannot stay here in a monologue.

A hug and see my results today.

Good Morning Come on !!!

I didn't want to go back on that, but I have to talk.

At some point here on this topic I said that I already lost a lot of money in the Market, and I opened the topic to help people make a little profit.

I spoke here of very simple methods, but which generate profit with good financial management (risk x reward).

I thought people would be more interested, and with that I would be showing several ways to win together. It was a mistake on my part.

People did not follow what I was doing and started talking about other methods, this is very annoying. I ended up discouraging myself, because only I put the results every day, and even seeing my positive results every day, people didn't do it, (few friends published anything). I would just like to help people, so that we can win together. I will leave here the results of the week of my 5 real accounts. I don't only work with US30, but I didn't have time to show my ideas.

A brotherly hug to all.

Forex 1x8, don't take it too hard. If you offered tomorrow's Wall Street Journal, some would turn it down. I trade the US 30, in and out, down and around, all day long. I see some interest on the forum in this asset and will try to get up to speed on what others are doing. Like stormgirl, I think I did get a little lost and just want to ask if you are still using the original parameters described in Post 1?

I'm not far into this one, but took a quick look at historical opportunities. From 12-21-2012 to date, I make it 2,173 trading days. There were 789 times price got 200 either above or below the open. So, we get triggered maybe a couple of times a week. So far so good? Appreciate being informed what I'm missing. Thanks.

{quote} We can have a Stop loss of 30 pips or according to the operator's wishes. But we may NOT HAVE STOP LOSS ... What would we have? we would have a coverage with a folded lot of the entrance that was not triggered. For example today. Opening price of the M30 candle at 16:30 was 33.124 We would have BUY STOP 33.154 SELL STOP 33.094 You triggered the SELL STOP in 33.094 and went to TP ... but if it wasn't for TP and you came back? BUY STOP 33.154 with double lot (2x) would be activated and we could recover the 1st entry. SELL STOP entry at 33.094...

This is the recipe to total loss. If a strategy requires Martingale should think of increasing SL so you are not stopped out so early. What about keeping sl at low high of 16:00 candle?
