NZD and AUD Employment Reports

The NZD employment report and the AUD employment reports are due to be announced tomorrow morning australian time. Anyone have experience trading these reports and what to expect?

this is the first time i see NZD unempolyment rate release and i dont have any experience and clue about this, can anyone comment about this thanks in advance.

Hi ,

for the australien report i would look for a minimun
deviation of + - 20 k then you can expect a move of round about 20 pips
in aud/usd.

aud/nzd moves better then aud/usd but for that i ve no statistic.
but sometimes it is worth to pay the higher spread.

for the nzd unempolyment rate release and i dont have any experience.

I checked the chart for last three NZD employment reports (Household labor survey) (February 8, 16:45 EST, MAy 10, 18:45 EST and August 9, 18:45 EST). Each time there was a nice spike (no whipsaw) worth atleast 20 pips. I traded the news only on the last one in August and it was really good. If your broker doesn't widen the spread, you can straddle it (5 to 10 pips away) and profit target could be 15-20 pips

Looks like you were right on this one. Made a nice + 12 pips

Now waiting for the AUD employment report in a few hours.

This was a good straddle trade...but be careful with the AUD..this report is less reliable and can whipsaw.

this is so good you made +14 pip from this report, i only mange 5 pip so far.

yeah that NZD report did some serious damage. a nice move indeed!

lets see if we can get more of the same from AUD report in 20 mins.

We must be patient with the AUD report though...it has had a tendency to whipsaw or reverse.

Maybe the AUD/NZD would be good...or the AUD/JPY.

I will be watching all three to see if there is any opportunity but I will NOT straddle this one. (I am NOT recommending this for anyone else)

Numbers came out worst than expected and the AUD/USD moved down about 24 pips. I didnt do so well on this one. How did you guys do??

I lost 1 pip on this announcement playing 2.5 standard lots. Not much to worry about given I took some pips previously from the NZD announcement.

Report was way worse than expected with the loss of 32k jobs but I don't understand how unemployment came down though. This conflict somewhat cushioned the fall in AUD unfortunately for us.

I was lucky to short both NZD and AUD, not straddle before news but some positions a few days old. Basically I'm a bit USD bullish at this time, and it's good to see USD held on at the range boundary: EUR/USD 1.2800, GBP/USD 1.9100, AUD/USD 0.7750(before nonfarm), NZD/USD 0.6750(before nonfarm).
I was waiting for things like today's news to give the NZD and AUD a push, now both went in my favor.
I also have GBP short position, I believe no matter what tomorrow's rate announcement would be, it can't hurt me too much, the market has priced in a near sure rate hike, don't tell me another hike next year, that's way too far away.
And it seems that AUD is breaking 0.7670-80 support level, nice move, nice pips. =)

I got in with a market order. I traded the AUD/JPY on this one.

As it turned out...it could have been a good straddle. But I got in after the first stall and made +10 pips with 3 lots.

I now have +4 pips locked in with 2 lots and a trailing stop.

Actually...I am very happy with this trade considering the history.

Two very nice trades tonight. NZD and AUD.

I got in on the initial spike down, got 15 pips, shoulda held on though, it went down a few more.. oh well, 15pips not anything to cry about : )

as the title says, will aud keep on falling against the yen? they have also been saying something about draging the yen out of deflation and raising interest rates and so on. of course this is probably somewhat in the future. i shorted the aud/jpy yesterday and am comfortably in the black for NOW. what are the thoughts on it continuing to fall?
