I recently stumbled on StrategyQuant.

I've been playing around with it for a little over a week, and it seems to do what I want it to do*. I'm curious to know if (and how) people use it.

Have any of you used Strategy Quant before and then stopped (or continued) using it? Why?

*What i want it to do / How I have used it: For me, it is the quickest way to take my strategy from an idea or a design to a tradeable system that I can backtest and take live (it generates code for MT4, MT5, and tradestation). It also has a strategy generation feature, where it can generate new (and evolve old) strategies based on constraints / rules and conditions that you provide. It uses machine learning for this; the team that built this have put in some very thoughtful hard work into building it.

Ignored
Did you end up pulling the trigger and giving SQ a try? Currently looking into it myself.

I'm heavily using it to make strategies, together with some other softwares. If anyone is interested to talk about it or wants to buy it, but not sure what it can do let me know! I will try to help from my perspective

I've developed and enhanced my own EA over several years but not quite to the point where I have consistency. I use Tick Data Suite for backtesting but haven't found consistency that I'm comfortable with. Could you share a few lines of why you got the product, ease of use/learning, and how it helps you to backtest and also how it may be more effective than the 'manual' method?

Thanks.

Hey, sure I can. You can also shoot me a PM so we can talk more there.

But, in short, to answer your questions. What I feel is the most important part of trading is having a diversified portfolio of strategies over many markets. This is what has made me most successful. This is where SQX or similar software gets handy. You can data mine the strategies, and try to find a few of those that are not overfit or going to blow in the markets. What is most important is actually the consistency of mining. You can always find more strategies. And what I do, is I do not look for the best strategies with 2+ Sharpe or so, I combine few average strats and use them over a longer period.

You can learn pretty quickly, depending on how much you are into quant trading already yourself.

The best thing compared to the manual method is, you can't beat the machine. All processes can be automated and I don't see an option how you can beat that by hand. It can also do what you do, which is trying to make one system that beats all odds.

Let me know in PM if you need any more questions or you just wanna talk about any of those.
In God we trust. All others must bring data.

StrategyQuant is the most promising package for developing trading systems for retail traders i.m.h.o.
Automatic generation of code in
* pseudocode; mql4; mql5; tradestation/multicharts; jforex

I would like it to help me to earn more money.
But it is expensive and takes time to master.

What holds me back is that...
I cannot find successful verified live trading accounts -- I am searching for years now (starting with SQ 3.81).

What you can find are Backtests; and if you are lucky a Demo account (mostly underwater).
How come? Maybe it's nothing but an expensive toy??
