Hi,
I developed this simply EA, would you like to help me in backtesting?
It simply identifies a peak in the last n bars, and open several stop orders at certain distance only in direction of peak, using a trailing a stop with the same distance in pips.
Something like a grid, but not properly a grid (no hedge)
Just a moving average to filter signals.
No martingale and little drawdown. Fixed lots.
I tried it with 30min on EURUSD for the whole 2017 with default parameters, spread fixed to 2, and it seems good.
Bad, instead, with other pairs for now.
What do you think about it?
Soon I'll explain parameters.

Thanks, see

Dear papartisan,

Well done on making the EA

I may not be able to help you backtest, but maybe I can assist with some considerations you may want to think about.
EA Development
-What is the goal of the EA? - You mentioned no hedge, no martingale and little draw down. So, is the goal a steady consistent EA that is relatively safe to run?
-What is the comparative benchmark for the EA? - Will it be 2x treasury bonds %? 2x Bank saving account rate? 1/2 of manual trading returns rate? etc..
-What are the costs involved to then run it? - power, VPN? -In my humble opinion, the EA should cover all costs and still generate profits.
-Can it survive in unusually volatile times? - Test periods where price suddenly crashed, or trending in one direction very strongly.

There area few I hope should help you. Final note, be careful with mt4 trailing stops as they do average the prices.

Kind Regards,
Tzamo

Hello Pipartisan,

Thank you for starting this thread. I was wondering if you could explain the rules of this method so it could be run manually? I would like to go through the charts and look at random entry points to see how the strategy fares against all market conditions.

I also prefer to trade manually whenever possible to know exactly when trades are entered and that there are no errors or malfunctions.

Looking forward to your explanation of the method. Looks promising.

Thanks,

dabeach
