I think yes, the newcomers are looking for the holy grail. of course they will never find it, but they will gain a lot of knowledge during the search.
so it can be a good motivation.
so it is even useful to some extent.

Never take your temperament for granted when deciding on a trading system or strategy. If you are an impulsive person, a slow system that makes you wait for high RRR may ruin you if you are tempted to adopt it. In the same vein, if you are not high wired, don't venture into a fast-paced system. Settle for a system that suits your personality, especially your temperament.

a lesson I paid (and still paying extra from time to time ) dearly to understand... still working on it, it is a very slow process (mostly 'cause I can be as stubborn as an obstinate donkey) but my journal is telling me I'm making progress.
One issue I found on the way is that some days I'm hyper impulsive high wired, some days I have no impulse and am scarily rational and patient... and other days all the spectrum in between... progress has been made by learning to know in which state I am before the start of the trading day and adapt accordingly, and also spot changes during the day, and accept that some days I should just not trade (usually in such case turning to demo mode and doing some exercices/challenges) or stop trading when I feel I'm becoming frustrated/over-impulsive etc.
Point I'm trying to make I think is that, yes, temperament is very important, but this can swing during a day/week/etc due to external factors, fatigue, frustration, etc pay attention to that as well, regularly keep an eye on your temperament pulse
I appreciate your candour mate. It is more important to understand our general temperament overall and let that guide what we decide upon in choosing a trading system. Any mood change will normally be less disastrous overall, hopefully being less frequent.

Here's a basic principle of trading S/R zone in a sideways market: Wait for a retest and zone flip/or bounce on a daily closing basis.

Can the holy grail not be a system or methodology that works (eg produces consistent equity increase for the risk undertaken) rather than a set of mechanical functions (eg indicators)? The more I look at trading the more similarities I see in any commercial ecosystem. It appears to me that there is always some way that you can move the pieces to align more favorably to your own advantage.
You can only 'move the pieces' under your control. A lot of what happens in the Forex market is outside your control. Nevertheless, continuous self-improvement as a trader in a focused manner is key to success in the Forex trading business.
