I have a couple of questions about FX options. Believe it or not, it's rather difficult to find any info on fx options with a simple google search.

Who's the best fx options broker?
How's the liquidity?
Can you write covered calls on leveraged positions?

Appreciate any feedback, thanks.

I don't trade any fx options. The volatility & volume in equity options is far superior.

There are some fx-related equities (Invesco - FXE, FXY, etc) that you could do some stock/options combinations with, but the volume is thin.

If you are trading spot then you might look into combining that with fx options on futures.

None of it interests me, though.

RISK-free trade, SPY Dec17/31 $435/440 diagonal calls, 80c credit; Dec17 $445/450 vertical calls, 78c debit. Max return on a 10-lot = $2,200. Is it worth it?

watch all the videos on tastytrade. Any broker worth a shit has paper trading accounts.

Hello, fellow traders. Been a while since I've been on here. Life got in the way of posting my trades like I like to do. But I'm going to try to be better at being consistent, I do really good for a few months then trail off, but I'll try to post all trades in real time again.

Hope everyone made it through 2020 as healthy as possible!

Sorry, but I have been off the thread for a while.

No, if you buy a straight CALL option for XYZ stock and the day before expiration the price drops below the strike price and stays there trough expiration day, you have lost at least majority of your investment. There is no rollover and you will not be able to close your position for what you paid for it. In most instances it will be a total loss, but on some with a lot of movement, you might can recoup some of your investment, but not much. If you want to continue with another CALL, a new purchase must be made.

Hey Money! I hope you have been well. I haven't been interested in posting much, as can be seen. Still trading same old fool mode, although I have gravitated into SPX much more. Same old shit, mix of time spreads, iron condors, etc.

I have been lately getting into trading some ratio spreads, though. Am liking them better than time spreads, you don't have to wait around till the end of the setup for the money. Ratio spreads pay better too on these big swings.

Image shows a AAPL back spread. You can play around with the ratios - I will look to put these on within a week or so after earnings. The iv's have crashed and buying the options gets cheaper. The sweet spot ifor the spread is probably 2 months and I look to get out of it on a big move or on a fizzle within about a month. The downside is protected. You can try to put them on for a credit and so the downside would pay a little bit. You just don't want to hold them and risk the worst case loss, which will occur if the stock grinds up around your long strike at expiry. If you don't wait too long this is a pretty safe trade. As you can see, if you catch a big move early, the return is "infinite"... (lol...well these days, maybe true)

Personally, I think the chip shortage is somewhat shady. Granted, there were large increases in PC sales and gaming sales due to the lockdowns and working/schooling from home, but they always operate with a surplus (Toyota bought 4 months of excess, Huawei bought loads to have for 5G, etc), so I am wondering if this isn't like the DeBeers diamonds....control the amount available, and you control the price. Maybe not even the chip manufacturers, but just large lot purchases from companies or countries to get the same results. Would make a good bargaining chip, for sure....

That being said, Ford and GM will probably take a hit first quarter this year since GM is halting production and Ford is focusing on their electric vehicle inventory with the chips they have. Gaming and smartphones should still do well, because they will just increase prices since they are now hard to get but in high demand (something the automotive group can't do so easily...hard to raise the cost of a $30K car to $40K because it is "hard to get"....not so hard to bump the price of a PS5 or iPhone12 up).

I'll be looking at the following in the morning (depending on futures):

KWEB Feb19 105 PUT @ $3.65 or better. Might wait until right before the close for this one....

VSAT Mar19 50 PUT @ $0.95 or better. Might have to get this one at the open....

All depends on what premarket is doing.

What I'd need to do nice call back spreads: stock is about 3-4 weeks past its last earnings release date; it's looking to put on a nice steady bull run 10% or better until the next ER; it has very liquid options; it's not over-priced - i.e., it's trading at say $100 or less.

You can buy long calls and I can buy back spreads and we can compare notes. (Although I am gonna need to hold for 2-6 weeks typically, maybe not your style, so comparison might not be so easy.)
