Ultimately each trader develops his/her own unique way of trading depending on perceptions and intuitions so even if it is time consuming it is any day reliable to lean on your own understanding of the game.. right?
Besides with a mentor, when things go right we are happy but when they go wrong we end up blaming the mentor and that again is not a healthy situation for trader.

{quote} You are right Forexnuts, But there are some people who are doing it for reasons other than contributing to the forum. They have personal reasons in acting like that, probably the number of posts counts, which they think will give them some sort of authority in the eye of a newbie. Greetz, Dutch Trader

No arguments here. It is just that we traders tend to log into FF, to check up on others, to chat and discuss imp topics..but to see old ones yucking up the place with no fresh or new ideas, is just both a waste of time and effort. Yeah, think it was done for the reasons you'd stated..strange world and even stranger FF posters..LOL

Knowledge is the main thing you need to make money from this risky market. Without knowledge you are nothing in this market.

People know that they need skills but they are not willing to give time in learning. They become restless to make money that after few months demo trading they jump into live trading. Then their run for a ready made strategy begin.

Managing risk is the most important yet ignored aspect in trading. I mean all unsuccessful traders do not have any risk management policy. I do not risk more than 1% of my capital in a single trade. If I open more than one trade my maximum risk percentage is 2%.

It's difficult to find a good one, unfortunately Just keep on learning on your own. Try a few of these...

1) babypips.com/school
2) Youtube
3) Look at your broker's website. There must be some valuable video tutorials available there.
4) Always read forex forums like forex factory, babypips, mql5, etc.
5) Read books/ebooks like

  1. Uncharted Stratagems: Unknown Depths of Forex Trading
  2. Forex Backdoor: A 3-Step Down-Low Razor-Sharp Guide To 0.5% Profit Per Day
  3. and many more in Amazon

Not easy to find one. 1 year is not enough, most of the time to really learn how to profit, you need 3-5 years.

Don't give up just yet. Start with...

1) babypips.com/school
2) Youtube
3) Look at your broker's website. There must be some valuable video tutorials available there.
4) Always read forex forums like forex factory, babypips, mql5, etc.

babypips seems to be very popular; what would be a close rival and or close second to babypips?

thanks in advance,

Most people who are trading for a constituent profit don't have time to teach. Most who teach can't make a consistent profit themselves. I'm in the first category, but I'll give you one nugget each year or so to speed you on your journey. First, trade the minimum live amount, 0.01 size, until you are profitable for several months in a row. Happy trading!

I totally agree with Graviton!

Start small and scale up. Respect risk versus ratio and play defense to avoid losses as much a possible.

No mentor can help predict how market will react and how you will react to all that when you start feeling the heat of the market! It takes a lot of introspection and patience.

Anyways, I work in the financial industry and since there's a lot more mentored than mentor available when it comes to leadership and management, we started to do peer-mentoring. The idea is for everyone to be able to meet others with similar interests and share their experiences. If you want to meet with me, I'd be glad to chat with you about trading in general! Don't hesitate and contact me!

Cheers.

This topic caught my interest because I often struggle with unexplained price behavior that causes losses, and I have no one to ask what I did wrong, and why it happened. It keeps happening until I can figure out why, and a mentor could be a huge help here.

I would just like to have an experienced someone who would take a quick look at occasional screen shots of the chart and tell me his/her opinion about why the price most likely turned around against me by disrespecting the support/resistance.
