That is a good question. Good means active and volatile market hours.

In general, volatile and active time for

Hours: Which hours ? Is it Open and Close hours, overlap of UK, US , or opening or closing hours of options market open and close hours?.
Week Days: Like for today is Friday. It behaves different from Monday or Tuesday or other week days.
Which months? Quarterly closing, or seasonals like Summer and Winter, etc.
Pre-pubic holidays days?
Post- public holidays day?
Pre- News times - which regular economic release news events really move market
Post-New times - which one of the news events generate more volatiliy.

All based on your feelings and observations and experience please. You may not related to options market. But if you some idea of it, please do share its impact on volatility of the market.

These statistics are for WS30 (Dow JOnes 30).

I am told there is 95% correlation between Dow Jones and Dax.

Sorry, I don't know anything about correlation.

When I was younger I traded for some time on correlation FESX/FDAX, Eurostoxx50 Future vs DAX Futures: when Latin Countires (Spain,Italy or France) were weak for some specific reasons I shorted 1,2 or 3 FESX and I went long on FDAX and viceversa. But it was many years ago, and frankly it worked but gains were limited compared to today gains.

Nowadays I only have ONE refer from US, it's US SP500, cause it's a good mix of main US Indices, with Techs, medium Companies and Big Top Giants US Cos.
These days Europe has no strenght, they follow US.
But in the end what it really matters imho, are key levels on DAX, no matter what DOW JONES, Nasdaq100, Semiconductors, or US SP500, or even FTSE in London is doing.

I'm talking here below only about DAX.

HOURS
1. Eurex and overnight session begin at night together with US Futures, but they don't mean nothing for DAX and FDAX/FDXM. I ever traded at night, I usually sleep.
2. 7:50-8 CET begins pre market, specially on DAX Futures. So volumes increase and you start to see some significant move or spike, specially just after 8CET.
3. Real game start at 9CET where you see an explosion of volume, cause main DAX CASH INDEX start in Frankfurt with all his shares.
Until 10CET usually you will see a decent voaltility, significant move, often real trend of the day, or better say for the morning until US session.
4. After 10CET they only prepare the ground for US session, but it depends on what is going on, today it's a good example of strong action in place for the whole morning.
5. Around 13CET, XETRA DAX has a sort of intraday close that I never understood, but this is probably for Institutionals and not for we humans.
6. US data (14:30CET) and for sure then US session(15:30CET) start the new real games, until 17:35 official main DAX Index close.
7. after hours Europe it's only for preparing the ground for the next morning, for instance yd they held prices higher above 900 zone for preparing the shorts this morning.

So in short, if you are able to surf the waves, 8-10CET and 15.30-7:30CET are for you, but be prepared to swim even beneath the waves.....
