I'll be starting an EA test again next week. Few questions.

In visual backtesting I've seen best win rate would be only one block after entry... If I wanted to set that in the EA my risk would need to be 0.5 or 0.3? Which one?

Looking forward to next week!

Hey @mathtrader7 I didn't actaully run the test... my home PC (testing rig) updated automatically and restarted... I'll set it going now and report back in a week...

I do have a few notes from early on.

- could we consider only taking trades in the direction of the higher trend? something simple like a 200ma or other well established trend identifier?
- for some reason, if I restart my MT4 the EA complains that it needs a demo account before the account (a demo) logs in...

Thanks for all your work!

Hi stubish,
The idea of using a trend filter may produce better results. I will test it.
The current version of the EA is experimental and runs on demo accounts until we have some forward test results to make sure that the EA is not going to blow up the accounts.

Well given the risk reward is all out of whack I can tell you with the current SL the one box TP is a looser, at least over the last few weeks. It's possible that if we can let profits run this may be ok but that's a little way off...

Hi stubish!

Without any forward test, I could say that it wouldn't be profitable with a TP = 1-brick. I recommend you to forward test the EA with the input settings I uploaded in Post 264.

Best,
Matt

Can I help me please.
I add MathTrader7_ATRBands.ex4 with alert when the Renko's bricks bound upper or lower band. But the alert repeats any time each seconds. So can i help me to setting that indicator for alert only one time.

Hi all, not easy trading conditions during 2020 (personally), so I decided to kick off the year with a bit of demo work and revisit MT7's ATR bands, using the latest version. I think this works best on larger bricks (10pip) but the addition of a second chart using smaller bricks (5 pip) to pick out potential obstacles helps refine the process. These brick sizes work OK on the DAX, I haven't tried any other instruments. Here's one I made earlier Entry at 13950, closed at 13965, +15 pips.

Another thing that is helpful using a smaller brick size for entry is the amount of movement during the formation of the 20 pip reversal brick (using MT7's non gap Renko EA)

Someone mentioned earlier in the thread that they couldn't stop the alarm ringing if it set to go off on contact with the ATR band, neither could I! Cheers, Dave

Version 1.00 of an adaptive version of the indicator released. In this version the indicator algorithm tries to find the best parameters to reduce the number of false signals. I have also fixed the problem with multiple Alerts. (I updated Post 1).

Hi Matt, I hope you are well. I've been running the adaptive version on my demo account comparing it with the original on my live account. I generally enter a trade a brick (100 pt.) after the reverse brick which seems to work OK on the DAX, I haven't tried it on another instrument. I find this and using a 50pt. chart as well mostly overcomes false signals. Cheers, Dave

Hi,
I am interested by the EA too.
I currently test (manually) entry point when the adaptive channel is/was outside or very close to the renkostreet channel.
so the RenkoStreet signal is a preliminary signal.
MathTrader7: feel free to add this filter with the possibility to disable it.
The example below is the french index with renko of 10 points.

+5 short DAX from 13990, thought it might go a bit further, a bounce off 14020 would be nice. 5&10 pip bricks
