Good to hear from my friend in Fiji! It would be great to trade some emails again (if this is who I think it is ... "D").

Anyway, I'd be happy to correspond with the folks here if you have questions about mentoring with me or others. I don't have anything bad to say about anyone else, but I will say that it's important to be able to get answers back by email from your mentor. This used to be a problem for me, because I would get a zillion emails every day. But I've been able to work that out now, and I am usually able to respond back in the same day.

It's also important that your mentor lets you roam around the world of indicators (with some guidance of course) and then settle on a system or approach that feels right to you. OR, the mentor should be able to share some basic rules and strategies for the methods/approaches/systems that he uses. Some of my very best students, who are now trading for a living, built their own systems and then used my help mostly for discipline. Others have adapted a method that I have used.

Now, as far as discipline is concerned, you need to get access to someone else, whether mentor, friend, pet, supernatural being, or vegetable, who is going to hold you accountable for your trades. This doesn't mean that they keep you from experiencing losses -- it means they hold you to the plans you make. If you train with me and send me a chart in the morning, and you say that you are planning to take a short GBPUSD trade, then I am going to email you later and ask you about that trade. You need to be accountable to take the trades you plan.

Last of all, your mentor should announce the trades he's going to take, in advance of taking those trades. Then the dude should break down why he's taking such trades. Then he should break down what happened later -- whether wins or losses. Here is a really brief example of what I send out on a regular basis.

Please contact me directly if you have questions, comments, jokes, or favorite recipes. You can reach me at 304 281 8998 (but it's hard to reach me on the phone) or by email (rob AT robbooker DOT com). Or by carrier pigeon to my home, but that seems too slow.

Happy trading to you all.

Everything I've read about Rob has been positive ao I contacted Rob a couple of times over the Christmas Holiday. I currently work a J-O-B and cannot trade during the day or at work. I also am involved in my 8 year old son's sports activities from April through October. Rob seemed very positive that we could come up with something for my situation and the amount of money I'll have in my mini-account with a long term goal of switching my 401k over to an IRA and trading that. I plan on starting around the 3rd week of January as well as checking out the PF for a month or so.
Still haven't found what I'm looking for...

Do all fx brokers offer IRA trading accounts? Which broker would you use for this? I noticed xpresstrade offers IRA trading accounts for fx and futures, but they say you first need a "trustee" for the funds. Do you or anybody have insights on this?
Thanks and have an auspicious new year learning from Rob Booker. Tony

Does anyone have opinions and/or experience with the Market Traders Institute forex trading course or the less expensive Dave Arena #1 Forex alerts? I'm brand new to forex trading, have yet to open an account and looking for guidance. Thanks!

Market Traders Institute is just a course on tech analysis. You can discover everything in their course for nothing just via looking through the web and where frameworks and tech analysis are talked about finally. They are not trading tutors in the more genuine feeling of the world. I'm sad I don't really think about the other one you specified however I'd give this alert. Most tutoring programs are not by any means coaching programs however are optional frameworks with a touch of technical analysis that you can learn for nothing off the web.

I'm interested to learn about fundamental concepts and principles. Fundamental teach you what to trade as GDP and deficit will throw smart money into an asset class that gives better return.

Buying trading lessons is one of the worst mistakes that traders do, especially new traders. All the information sold out there is available online for free and on platforms like this one. I also approve of using the services of Rob Booker. Thanks to the thread dedicated to his mentorship program

I personally do not think that they hardly even worth anything especially paid ones, a lot of Clickbank sites offer some mentoring courses but you shouldn't fall for that, there are lof of free information around the web about all you need to know really. Pesonally I have learned a lot in something like BabyPips and probably Earn Forex as well as Forex Peace Army, I mean our forum should make more move into quality content, it will have much more people who will learn there too

The most common mistake in trading is overconfidence. In trading, Confidence is good but overconfidence is dangerous.
