Most UK businesses have prepared for end of Brexit transition - minister

Give a politician leeway and they spout off in a way that provides just a noose from which to hang. A trade deal completed in 9 months doesn't give a lot of time for adjustment and even less so when there is only about a week between the arrival at the starting blocks and the gun going off.
However well any individual company may have prepared, there will still be so much out of their own control that the trial-and-error period will take some time to settle. Border officials may be lenient or full of jobs-worths, who knows?! There is a reported shortage of trained Export/Import agents.
Now, all of that focuses on the short-term but I refuse to believe it will not settle down, some time. In time it MAY all go digital and paperless, especially if there is enough will to make life easier for everyone. The notion of border-checks is so retro, if every vehicle and container etc is chipped. The UK ANPR system can trace every vehicle passing and must be easily installed at the docks. I refuse to believe that the desire on the continent will be any less, in time.
There will be winners and losers as a result of the changes and not on some nationalistic base, which too many people prefer to focus on and shout about. Most UK companies don't actually export and will be unaffected directly, only indirectly. The CBI and large industries may complain about all the red tape and paperwork as they only ever want 'no-change' at worst but the on-cost will end up being small to them, huge to smaller businesses and it will allow the larger businesses a bit more of a protective moat.
Even IF everyone was really well prepared there WILL be disruption. It's inevitable. But, it will also be temporary. I have no idea how long that period will be and nor will anyone else.

I blame it on bad childhood experience.....he has the gift of the gap but he always used it in the wrong places and ways. Look forward to the day where he finally get backstabbed by boris, as revenge.

CBI, and UK business leaders have warned throughout the lat 3 months that a Brexit “tidal wave” of red tape is going to hit British industry on 1 January even with a trade deal, for which UK business is largely unprepared.
