No, but I thought so too.
On my mobile I got the notice of the updated mobile MT4.

However, when I opened the MT4 on the computer, it also updated (all copies of my Brokers, to tell the truth).
Out of curiosity I checked the MT5 I have with another Broker and this too has been updated.

As you can see, the dates are Thursday 26, the official date of Metaquotes.
Brokers, however, always update on Saturday or Sunday, in order not to create problems.

I'm not writing this for you, who know better than me , but for those in their first update.

Ok. Thanks.

I haven't turned off my computer or any MT4's running since before Thursday.

Do you what kinds of problems (if any) can an update cause?
I know major updates may cause the code from some EA's or indys to not work but minor updates are probably not noticeable. Right?

@OutThere -- regarding updates -- you're "damned if you do, and damned if you don't"...

For security reasons, MetaQuotes would rarely announce what the changes are. Since @Trader-IT was kind enough to alert us, at least we are aware of the update and if we notice any different or odd behavior we have an explanation. It's not worth fighting MetaQuotes -- if you're going to use their trading platform then go with the flow. The alternative is the update will occur at some point in the future when you're not paying attention.

Yup.
The only problem that a new update on MT4 may present is related to (possible) malfunctions on Indy and/or EA.
For safety and security, I always check everything on Sunday.
I don't want to end up with an indy/EA based trade that is giving incorrect info or not working at all.
In 8 years this has never happened to me and I have been lucky, while on FF there are hundreds and hundreds of posts of complaints, for this very reason.

Metaquotes hasn't developed MT4 for a while now. Luckily he updates it again. Even if in a "minor" upgrade.

On the other hand, it seems that the "definitive" version for MacOS both MT4 and MT5 is about to be released

Thanks for the heads up, Trader-IT!

Will there be a need to do anything from our end?

Hello Doji.
All my previous and current notes, are mostly in favor of those who have recently started with the Mt4 (desktop or mobile).
I don't want to create alarmism or perhaps unfounded fears.
I just want to make the Trader, aware that he finds himself with "problems", of the possible causes that led to the condition in which he finds himself.

Opening the MT4 (since yesterday) causes the update request, which requires manual confirmation.
At least it has always been like this for me (and always) with my Windows 10 setup.
Alternatively, the update starts automatically.
If there is a manual update request, it is true that you can refuse the update, but in theory it should reappear every time the MT4 is started (also this depending on the Windows settings).
It is also true that, if you have platforms always running on VPS, this "problem" shouldn't exist and everything "should" work normally.

For my part, too many ifs and too many buts.
With money at stake, I always prefer to reduce the risk as much as possible.

If updated today with the Market closed:
1) allows an instant platform start when you are ready to work with manual or pending orders (if there are no EAs running).
And check if everything works fine (indy present and more).
2) if there are EAs running, updating to an open Market, perhaps with orders under management already activated, can create the closing of the same or the opening of new ones, perhaps at unintended conditions.
This should not happen when the Market is closed. And if it happens, you have time to correct or at least be prepared to the result.
Honestly I am not an EA expert, but if I remember correctly the problems other Traders had in the past and in these conditions, the risk is there.
How does your EA behave if the platform closes and reopens?

Mine are not tips or suggestions though.
I don't want anyone to have unwanted problems because of me.
Everyone decides, being informed of everything, what is best for him.
Each platform, each installation, each EA (if any) is a unique combination.

As is herightly pointed out:

Before you update MT4 or MT5 you can copy the terminal.exe file to your desktop, then update your MT4 or MT5. If you don’t like the update you can simply replace the new created terminal.exe file with the old one.

Unfortunately you don't know what you are talking about.

Anyway stop now. 11 posts on this are enough.
In the past (and on other forums) I reported the event and it ended there.

This is not a thread on MT4, but on The5%ers.

Let's not go too far.

How about these currencies to trade:

AUDUSD, GBPUSD, USDJPY, USDCHF, EURUSD, USDCAD, NZDUSD,

AUDNZD, EURGBP, GBPCHF, EURJPY, GBPAUD.

You can go through all of them and pick the best pattern you see and you can trade it. My advice is do not open too many positions. Trade safe.

Lol. Who started the drama about updating MT4 or MT5? If you do what I say (and I know what I'm talking about) you will never have a problem with such a simple thing as updating MT4 or MT5 anymore. Dramaqueen.

@Dmh -- you are wrong -- it doesn't work. Terminal.exe needs the rest of its environment contained in the installation folder.

I just now tried what you suggested. Terminal.exe launches -- but completely blank. No existing logins, no indicators, no EAs, nothing. And then 10 seconds later Windows pops up a message asking whether it should allow Terminal.exe to make changes to my machine.

@Dmh -- it was sufficient to suggest your idea, even though it doesn't work. No need to call names, you clown...

Forex Trading Room 30th Nov - 4th Dec 2020

Here's today's recording Forex Trading Room Session.

Inside Today’s Forex Trading Room Session we analyzed the charts for the upcoming week, we start with the higher time frame and then check the lower time frames to look for intraday opportunities.

We follow an open buy trade on USDJPY that I open about an hour before the trading room starts, I explained the reason I open this trade, closed part of the position, and roll the stop loss above entry-level. in addition, We analyzed some other pairs for high and low time frames.

The Trading Room was consumed with a live trade in the EURUSD. It worked out well and if you can see the recording it was educational. I am a chicken and got flat with 160 pips....news is coming.

Please Gil,
why is it no longer possible to load the bar history?

The M1s are at most until November 27th (only 3 days).
I need to have a higher M1 bar history.

I used two scripts, one more reliable than the other and I have never had such a problem before.

In the MT4 options, the number of bars is at the maximum, but I also tried to reduce it, with the same result.

Thanks.
