Hey guys , if you familiar with trading view you will notice that it has an option to change time frames any time frame you'd like to show. (3h,8h, 2w,...etc), the cool thing is even the indicators are compatible with that, so MACD is able to calculate it's values according to any timeframe you placed on.
my question is is there MACD for MT4 platform that calculate it's values using bars (I set the number of bars ) rather than the default mt4 TF,

In mt4 platform there is (1M,5M,15M,1H,4H,1D,1W,1MN). What if I want the MACD of 3H ,or 2D, so am assuming 3H in an hourly time frame is 3 bars. So I want a MACD that could calculate this kind of range. 3bars ,

it is now clear.
your original question should be: How I get MACD for 3H-frame and so on for non-series frames in mt4.
since other frames also are depending on the bars.

in this case, there is a solution but depend on mastering MACD 2 equations:
-equation of MACD MAIN
-equation of MACD SIGNAL.
so things will proceed as how you solved using paper and pencil.
lengthy but possible programmatically

or you can check other platforms, other than mt4, which support other frames like H8, H3 and so on, like tradeStation!

I don't think the problem has to do with the main, signal lines. Rather then the EMA it self , am gonna fire up my mt4 editor and try to solve this because the MACD is nothing but the subscription between to 2 EMA's , so I will try to find the ema (n) range of bars ,and give you the updates.
Ok. Playing with emas with a little hacking gave me a good result.
Here is how I made it
The default macd fastema =12;
And slowEma=26;
Lets assume I put this default macd into 1h time frame. And I want it for 2 hours time frame. 2hours time frame is 120min,
So. 26ema of a 60min chart in 2h(120min )time frame is
Ema= (120*26)/60;
And the same for the fast EMA .
I will make it more dynamic and then I will upload it.

ok , i just finished my MTF MACD in a hurry , this is not a professional code please improve it .


Installation :

the installation as usual just put it in the indicator folder and refresh .
how to use:

1-go to your preffered time frame for Ex:1h time frame , put it there , create a text object (T) name it to 'MTF' without the qouts and modify the text to any time frame you want with putting an underscore between the Scaller and the Unite , Ex: 3_H or 3_h ,
2-reload by switching between frames .
ps: if you need more details i can make a short video for it .

If your looking for a divergence indicator this is the best that I have found. It gives you multiple options and pushes alerts or emails.

Hi Karimix, this looks like the MACD mtf you were looking for.

However, I would not search for trading signals, but only as a trend filter.

Even if you use a multi time frame indicator, the trend follower indicators always lag behind the trend changes.

You need something to anticipate the move, and divergence on the RSI can be the right solution.
