DislikedI've been contemplating doing the FTMO challenge. Who doesn't like free money right? But its a bit concerning that the challenge goal is 10%. 10% in a month is pretty high for any professional trader. There is an element of luck to squeeze into the risk parameters vs the required target. Essentially I could fire 4-5 big trades and hope they hit the target then pull back for the remaining days of the challenge, but that wouldn't actually mean I am fit to run a 100k account. I saw a lot of the youtube guys who passed, got funded, showed a withdrawal,...Ignored
DislikedThanks! Hope to receive the details before monday. My risk per trade in my first 10 days is 0.45% the 0.05% is a buffer for swaps and spread. Then this week I increased it to 0.9%, again the 0.1% is for buffer. I decided to increase the risk because I know I only have less than 2 weeks and there's nothing to loose aside from the effort I exerted in the last 2 weeks and also I have a profit of 7k at the start of this week. I don't mind repeating the challenge so my main goal is to at least have 0.01 USD profit by end of the challenge so I can get...Ignored

Disliked{quote} An acquaintance of mine has been with FTMO for more than 10 months and very happy. He's a highly skilled trader but you won't find him on forums or youtube but enjoying his low profile life and working towards new goals away from the spotlight. There's probably a lot of traders like that. Social media stars are just that, they rise and they crash as quickly IMHO.Ignored
Disliked{quote} You can always adjust your risk right? just be sure not to violate any of FTMO's rules. ie. if as professional trader you can achieve 2.5% profit in a month and 1.5% drawdown, then you can try to multiply your risk by 4 = 10%profit, 6.0% max DD. after passing the challenge, instead of your risk x4, you can lessen to x2 = 5% profit 3% DD. Then after passing verification, you can set it back to x1. I don't see the harm in doing it, it's just managing risk and following rules. Or maybe try their trial first? it's free for 14 days - which is...Ignored

Disliked{quote} Sure, I mean, I can push 10% out in a week or two within their parameters. It certainly isn't sustainable. The question is do they hold you to that 10% after that? Or do you just earn whatever you earn so long as you are within their risk requirements for loss? Obviously we are all in this to make money, but I'd prefer to be able to non-stressly do it. I'll be taking a stab at FTMO's 100k account sometime soon trading oil and dow. I am fairly sure I'll pass, but I am more interested in what lies beyond the frozen wall. I don't want to be...Ignored
